Kicking choice is "a fluid process"

I've come to grips with the two kicker solution. It is basically just a way to keep Gano on the hot seat. Either he makes the kicks or they let him go. Probably isn't good for confidence but for everyone who wants Gano gone this is probably a good thing.

Hopefully Gano feels pushed by Butker and it results in a better kicking year.

If it's necessary to devote a roster spot to Player X solely for the purpose of keeping Player Y motivated, is Player Y really worth keeping?

Cut them both and bring in Novak.  It really isnt that hard.

I wasn't even aware he was out there, not saying that I would necessarily favor him over our guys (not saying that I wouldn't). Just knowing he's out there, certainly among others, should make cutting Gano or Butker that much easier of a proposition (not that it should be this hard).

Remind me again, which pro bowlers did we cut in order to carry a 3rd QB and 2nd kicker as players 52 & 53 on the roster?

If Hurney feels he can get something for either kicker it's better to hang on to him than dump him. Especially when Gettleman has already set him back a step without a 4th next year.

You know you're supposed to shut up unless you have something nice to say about Gettleman and bad to say about Hurney.

Sad we have Cam Newton and Luke Kuechly, but can't bring the right management in to build the best team around them to win the SB.

Because we have two kickers before the season starts? Is that wtf we're talking about here? Y'all will bitch about the most pointless stuff

I can't stand Hurney, but I think people are overreacting a little bit too. How can people claim to know that he has no plan when we don't even know what the next move is? Maybe there will be two kickers on the team this time next week, maybe there won't. Nobody here can know one way or the other. For all we know, neither one of the kickers will be on the roster this time next week.

It's the same with the QB's. Maybe they are sending a clear message to DA with those two young QB's that his seat is not nearly as safe as he probably thought it was and that he could be cut at any time just like Webb was. Maybe he won't be here this time next week. None of us knows. That's just the truth of the matter and I'm willing to give them the benefit of the doubt for now.

Absolutely not and I'm not advocating it. Im just attempting to find a silver lining in it.

The kicker thing is a facade. It's really a general bitch and moan thread about Hurney and Rivera, and J-Rich to a lesser extent. I guess if we have a good season and Rivera gets another COTY, then people will shut it down temporarily, until the next time, and whisper about how Gettleman is the real reason for the team's success.

    • Truth. Like when UNC hired Butch Davis and then we get hit for recruiting violations. Like yeah, no poo. Dude coached Miami when they we paying like the 33rd NFL team. What did you expect?
    • He's a hard player to rank, cause he is a young NT. I do see his abilities to branch out among the DL. That's the only way for him to land in the 1st, some team has to believe he's got the stuff to play DE or T3.... I just don't see using 19 on him, I feel there should be around 7 players just ranked higher than him for the Panthers team.  ___________________________________________________________________   Now you are a roster nut like me. Im tossing this into fire, I think a good move is to trade UP, yes rare. Just the roster #s tell me 5 rookies and no more than 2 starters will make the team. I feel 5 is magic number.    QB- 2  BY, Pickett RB- 3   Chubba, Brooks(pls), etienne TE- 4   Sanders, Temble, Evans, Draft pick/major/franks/UDFA OL- 10   Walker, Lewis, Fortner, Hunt, Motown, Zavailla, Samac, Stone, Draft pick, Draft pick/Charles/carter WR-  6   Tmac, XL, Coker, Metch, Horn, Tremay   offense=  25 with 3 draft picks   DL-  6   Brown, Brown, Wharton, Ray, Cam, Hunter/draft pick Ed-   5  Phillips, Nic, Prince, Jones, ST/incoom/hampton ILB-   5  Lloyd, Wallace, Bam, Claud, draft pick CB-    5 Horn, Jackson, Thor, Evans, draft pick/CSN/UDFA SS-  4  Scott, More, Ramsom, Sim   Defense = 25 with 2 picks   ST = known 3+o+d = 53 roster   SO I see only room for 5-6 with factoring in UDFA pool. That tells me to trade up! Bonus the 1st+3rd gets in front of TB yucs. Then use one of the 5ths+2nd to draft another target. That's your two starters and use the 4th, 5th and 6th for the development OTs and what ever the best player are at the pick/DB. The last couple years they have added 2-3 UDFA each year, maybe the same this year too. Soooooooo Im normally 95% trade back, but above made me change my mind. I do not want to waive 5th rounder, I feel thats high with players on the bench.    ?? There's waiver claims too, they have done that each year.
