Star and KK were dominant today. If we don't lock down this tandem for the future it will be a colossal mistake.

No, he should not. The season is on focus on football.

I'm the first to admit star was great last night. And we are a better team with him, that is however off the point.

1. How will you let walk instead?

2. Hour much of a drop off is the next guy up?

Large nose guys are not in demand right now, that's why a guy like Love was unsigned at the start of last season. And substituting star for love does not in any great why affects how good a defense is.

Fua and McClain come onnnn down!!  Amiright?

Of course we need to re-sign Star.  He was a potential #1 overall pick and we were orgasmic when he was available for a reason.

I don't know if people realize how important Star is to our defense. he eats up blockers and frees up luke and TD. We need him but we can't break the bank on him. I'm confindent in Vernon Butler but it would kill me to lose Star. Lucky for us we have Hurney now who will throw a record contract his way just in time for a new GM to take over

Gettleman would have 100% resigned Star. He understands the QB, OL, and DL are the most important positions and where the majority of the money should be spent on star players. I think DG would have negotiated a better contract than Hurney

That was when huge guys were still the trend. Speed is everything right now.

We have a GM now that knows dts and would never let guys like Fua sniff a workout. Oh xxxx, you are right: We are basically looking at star  @$15M a year or Fua 2.0. In that scenario I'll take star...

Star's going to get his contract, and so will Norwell.  Hurney will find the money to pay both of them, unless he truly is interim, in which case I expect he gives the incoming guy a path to it as an option.

Some of you should just chill out and enjoy the team as it is now.

    • I originally hated the Miller deal but with the cap projected to rise nearly $10M next season the Canes struck some pretty good deals between Miller and Ehlers. Most of the team is locked in for the next few years. Nikishin will need an extension probably in the $6M AAV range. And Blake will need one if we don’t move him. Personally I’d move Blake, picks, and any prospect not named Nikishin/Nadeau/Artamonov for McTavish as I don’t see any any of the big time players moving teams next year. Realistically the Hurricanes should just target Gustavsson next year to fix the goal tending issue. But I’m all for moving Blake, picks, and prospects for McTavish this year. Ehlers - Aho - Jarvis Svechnikov - McTavish - Stankoven Martinook - Staal - Carrier Hall - Kotkaniemi - Robinson Jost - Jankowski Slavin - Miller Nikishin - Chatfield Gostisbehere - Walker Reilly Andersen Kochetkov I’d do Blake, Felix-Unger-Sorum, and 27 2nd for McTavish.
    • Very true on the length but stuff like this is never where we shine. We aren’t a good team at drafting.
    • Homerism aside, the more I see from Dan, the more impressed I am.  His player evaluation instincts. Last year his 2 premier FA signings, Hunt and Lewis COMPLETELY changed the line and I have a feeling his success in choosing blue chip guys will continue.  Look at the panthers’s rep for FA signings in the past. By and large, it’s been guys 1 year past their prime who had an injury and suckered our GM in to a crippling contract. We never get nice things. When was the last time this team signed 2 young blue chip studs  in the same offseason to contracts worthy of their impact? Ever?  Im telling y’all, players respect and trust Morgan.
