brainwashed slop about byron bell's left hand or mike shula's merits is pretty tough to stomach, so granted

Never once posted about Byron Bell being left handed. Did not like Byron Bell. Still think he is the worst left tackle we have ever had. Mike Shula does deserve some of the crap he gets, but not nearly all of it. Some of it has to fall on the players as well.

The point of my original post to you was that you can be a fan of this team without being so goddamn negative about everything. You are the type of fan who craps on every decision, and then hopes the team fails so that you can scream that you were right at the top of your lungs.

Just because there are some of us who prefer to support the team instead of bash it, does not make us bad fans, or newbies, or idiots.

And not eligible to play for 8 weeks.

This blows.

which puts him on track to come back right off the bye, which management no doubt got wide eyed with glee about as they thought they caught a break.

This team is so concerned with doing things by the book they forget that their jobs rides on them winning super bowls

I prefer to see the team win super bowls, thanks.

Is there another thread about the OT that actually is about the OT? If not, while the pissing match continues, I would enjoy some discussion about the impact of the move. First, don't get your panties in a wad about 88 to IR. His damn foot broke in a non contact way. Broken is broke. He underwent surgery. Anyone who has never broken a bone needs to understand that these things take time to heal. It took me about two years to fully recover from a broken pinky. Before you laugh, know that FYI, the majority of your grip strength is in your fifth metacarpal. For some guys around here lately, that injury would probably put a serious damper on your sex life. The point is, Olsen is out for eight weeks and we need to deal with it. The argument is then only about who gets to join the 53. Looks like it's Armah, so,...

We haven't seen much at all of Armah, which in my mind, makes what he's done with so little time even more impressive. It's only one play, but something about that catch and sideline tightrope run to a TD really stood out. Despite it allegedly being a dying position, especially with our scheme, and under the current circumstances, we could use the talents he flashed, and that's an understatement. Other relatively unknown rookies have come up and produced from day one, so who's to say he won't be able to do that too? What if he quickly turns out to be a younger, faster, etc. version of Tolbert during his banner year(s) here? Aside from blocking needs, what are the potential implications for both the run game, and think about it now, the passing game with three receivers (pick your three faves of choice from the roster), along with him and 22 out of the backfield? I'm no Shula, but I can come up with half a dozen difficult to defend plays right out of a damaged pinky finger.

Only if it's my left hand...even then, stranger.

As for Armah, I think it really depends on how much of the playbook he actually knows. CMC whiffed on some protection assignments (it seemed to me) and that kid is supposed to have a high football IQ (pedigree, etc). So if Armah knows the plays I think he can see the field. I have to assume they promoted him to the 53 with the idea that he knows enough now or will soon. Since Manhertz moves to TE2 I assume, not sure how much field time he sees beyond ST. Did Dickson play ST? If he did, I bet he won't anymore. If not then maybe Manhertz doesn't anymore either? I'm not sure.

Either way, I think he'll get a jersey on gamedays for ST action and if a TE gets hurt but I don't think he sees much offensive playing time...for now.

I hope so. But I doubt he will be catching much since he's a rookie that's very raw. I think though he can block in this league. Being a TE/DE should definitely help him in that department. If he can get to the second level and tie up linebackers to spring our running backs would be something I want him to be used to do. Let's see if we do that though.
