Kelvin Beachum, Russell Okung, Andrew whitworth, Cam Robinson are all thriving at left tackle

All 4 of them were available

Cam Robinson was taken only a few spots ahead of Curtis Samuel in the 2nd round;  we could have moved up to draft him in the 2nd with a 6th round pick and still gotten CMC.

Beachum signed for peanuts and has an excellent PFF rating this year and last year

Whitworth has allowed 0 pressures this entire season

Okung has found new life in LA

But what does Gettleman do?  Gives 55 million to a guy under a theory that people play better with their brother.

And despite what people want you to believe, we can't cut him for the next three years without a massive dead cap hit (over 10 million the first three years).  We are saddled with Kalil for at least 3 years.

Just hard to fathom when so many quality left tackles were available for cheaper this offseason.

I have a prediction that the Gettleman cult members are so unable to face reality, they will come up with a theory that JR forced Gettleman to offer this deal, but will not offer any evidence

They need some excuse though.  It was clear Gettleman had been focused on Kalil for months, and never even looked into Whitworth, Okung, Beachum, Robinson, or any other options.

They're also still pretending we can cut him this with no dead cap hit, even though this is blatantly false and we're on the hook for massive dead cap hits for at least 3 years.

Lol, Gettlemagic!  Cue the 5-page word documents copied and pasted onto the huddle, mourning the loss of a true genius.  Give the guy a fat ass statue!

All while we watch our generational talent at QB handcuffed by poor playcalling, poor protection, and nagging injuries as a result of Gettleman's negligence.  fug that guy.

God damn did this fuging  fanbase overrated the hell out of Gettleman.

He spent the last 3, 1st round draft picks on

Butler, Shaq, and CMC

Three gadget/hybrid players buried on the depth chart in positions where we already had pro bowl players (Stewart, Davis, KK), when we had real positions of need

And people wonder why we have so many holes on our roster

People discredit Hurney's 1st round hall of famers by saying, 'anyone can pick in the 1st round', yet Gettleman picks bust after bust after bust

    • I mean I just don't understand the argument. Baker and Sam both have been pro bowl QBs post their time here. And you just said yourself that is due to him having a damn good roster around him and they are well coached. You're even saying the bad baker is still there somewhere, but he is in a good organization with good roster and coaching that they are getting the best out of him. Why does Baker and Sam get all that benefit of the doubt but when it comes to Bryce it must be a BY9 problem, not an org or team problem?  Hell I got a guy below you arguing with me that Chark/Hurst/Mingo sucked because Bryce wouldn't throw them open. It's ridiculous how far the stretch goes.
    • Correct.  It’s really hard to get open in the NFL when opposing defenses gameplan and cheat coverage/routes on all your players because they know your QB can’t make certain throws/plays.   magically no one that comes to Carolina can get open or make plays with the ball in their hands…..it’s like there is one singular common dominator to it all.  BY makes playing defense way too easy.   NFL players are too good to allow one side to cheat coverage and not respect all the potential threats of a route  so you can dial up a great play.  But if corners and safeties just cheat coverage and know X and Y happening on route/threats….getting open gets hard when they just play it one way.  Getting open has a lot to do with the different threats a WR can pose on a given play.
    • Kinda depends how you look at it both were 3rd round draft pics.  Nico was nothing before stroud and tank came in with stroud.  If both were on the panthers would young have them doing well and starting or would their stats be low.  I really dont know the answer to that.  None of the panthers wrs have left and did well either but personally i feel neither of nico or tank would do much on the panthers.
