Time for a Change

I have always been a pretty big Rivera supporter.  When 2014 hit and everyone was calling for his head.   I hung in there with him.  Believing he could get the job done.  He could win it all for us.

Not anymore.   I don't see the togetherness that 2015 had.   Riverboat Ron has gone back to being scared.  My final blow was the decision to punt when we gained only 15 yds of field position against a team that was consistently moving the ball.   At that moment in the game is when I realize it was game over.   You pay kickers to kick field goals and extra points.   While FGs aren't going to win you games too often leaving points on the field is worse.

This team isn't riddled with Pro Bowlers at every position, no team is.  IMO this team has the talent to beat anyone including New England.  Rivera (and maybe JR) hangs onto the worst offensive coordinator in the league.  We are wasting a rare talent.    I was watching the KC game (or maybe NFL Network) the other night and they were talking how Andy Reid moves guys around to create mismatches.   I look at their talent and ours and offensively we have just as good talent if not better.  Yet we are mired in an offense that has scored 3 TDs in 3 Games.  An offense that would have gotten beat by the worst team in the league 30 years ago.

When does it change?  Sadly it will take 2017 for anyone to make a change.  We'll lose this whole season because Rivera doesn't have the balls to make the call to replace Shula.

We all, or most, love the Panthers but the lack of offense is killing us.  If you can't see this Ron than it is time to put the Riverboat in mothball and move on.  There are good coaches out there that would love to have the talent we have.

Unless, things change in a hurry, Ron we love you but it is time for a change.

Win against some good teams, beat the teams you're supposed to beat convincingly (especially at home), and make a run in the postseason...and all will be forgotten.

Well so far according to this logic we are 0-3 (maybe 1-2 if you consider SF convincingly) We should have walked all over New Orleans (especially at home) yet we looked like the same team from 2016.

I guess what frustrates me is that everyone says Shula is great at play design but we never see it.  Misdirection is not a word we use in our offense and should be utilized often with the speed we have.  Even the thought of doing misdirection would make teams hesitate.  I want to see this offense explode with the potential we have.  Rivera won't hold him accountable and therefore he needs to be held accountable.

Johnny Unitas, my hero as a young man, was his on OC and he was great at keeping defenses honest.  Running when it was obvious passing and visa versa.  Our OC uses the same formation, the same plays and expects them to fool someone.  THEY DON'T.

Open this offense up and make teams play from behind.

This season is an anomaly. We beat SF, who then took it to SEA and LA. We beat BUF, who then go beat DEN, who had previously beat DAL. The NO throttles us, after being embarrassed 2 weeks in a row. There's no telling what happens next.

Most definitely an odd season.  Who would have thunk that Jacksonville would Thump Baltimore in London 44-7.  NOT ME.

We don't game plan which is why we don't create mismatches for defenses. We just run our offense and if it works, it works... if it doesn't, it doesn't.

    • Jalen Carter came into camp out of shape too. That was part of the reason he dropped considering he was thought of as the better defensive player pre-draft activities. It’s not a good sign when you don’t look great but it’s definitely premature.
    • We won 5 with the worst defense in the history of defenses.  I think free agency and our draft puts us over 6.5.
    • Leaning towards just ordering this tonight, but now I have no idea on size. Has anyone bought a bunch of jerseys in the last few years and can convey how the Game vs Limited vs Reebok versions all fit? These are both Mediums... The white one here is a Reebok one from 2010, and was when they had the "+2 length" on the tag and it was the version with the stitched numbers instead of iron on... the blue one is from 2022 and is the F.U.S.E Limited version also with stitched stuff, not the "game jersey" with the ironed on numbers/letters that they have the T-Mac jerseys in. The old one fits me fine, the blue one was always a tad snug on me, particularly in the shoulders I'm leaning going with a Large based on the CMC, but for all I know, that is made with a tighter cut due to the higher "limited" level and the "game" ones they have for T-Mac are cut more like a T-Shirt and thus will fit more like the old white one I have here, not sure. (and yes, I already tried going to a sporting goods store here to hopefully try on a Lions jersey to see, but they don't have any right now)
