Matt Kalil did not allow a pressure vs. Lions

You'll hear plenty of people talk about chemistry between quarterbacks and receivers. It's not often you hear people talk about chemistry between quarterbacks and left tackles, but that's  absolutely a thing. And it takes time to develop.

Take, for example, the usual distance a QB drops back. A left tackle needs to have a feel for that so that he knows where to take his man. If the two aren't on the same page when it comes to distance, ouch.

Throw in that Newton has a bad habit of going backward instead of stepping up in the pocket. That can be adjusted for, but you have to know it's there first.

Honestly, a quarterback needs to have chemistry with the entire line, but we're primarily talking about left tackle here.

His true test will be how well he handles speed rushers this season. I do think he is getting better. Philly will be a big challenge with Curry, Barnett, Jernigan, and Cox.

Pssst.... Cam is getting rid of the ball much quicker.

True but for this to work, our receivers have to get some separation.  That was not happening at all at the two home games I saw.

The offense being better has been a combination of better protection, separation from Benjamin and funchess, and quicker decisions from cam.

The team, as a whole, is improving each week. Kalil is beginning to gel, but also remember that he has a lot of experience going up against the personnel of the teams from the NFC North. That served him well Sunday and should again in the future.

Cam does appear to read the defense and taking what is given. But... Cam had plenty of time in the pocket yesterday. Offensive line looked good except when Larsen got bull rushed.

Yep, its both of them working together.

Cam is getting rid of the ball faster. Makes Matt's job easier, he is more confident, and is starting to make these plays...

Good news all around.

I love how Kalil blocked the DE down to his hands and knees, then rolled him over to pancake him.  Nasty.
