Next gen stats - our run blocking is atrocious, Stewart and Mccaffrey are disappointments

He will never be considered a bust in the sense Reggie Bush was never considered a bust.

But to me  the 8th pick has to be a more than a scat back.

Have you missed the part of our gameplan where J Stew is our main back?  To say CMac is just a "scat back" is just willfully ignorant.

I refuse to judge CMC simply because our run blocking is getting every running back hit, at minimum, at the line if not behind the line. In the preseason, when CMC had holes to hit, he looked great. Good vision, great burst through the hole and we were all optimistic. Put Zeke Elliot, AP, Cook, Fournette, any RB behind this line, the story doesn't change. There was more than one instance where Stew had 3+ defenders on top of him in the backfield before he had a chance to turn the ball to the line. This is an OL problem, not a RB problem.

Mccaffrey lack of ability to break tackles is bad. He has one of the worst yards per touch averages in the nfl

Spot on. Scouts mentioned CMC's inability to break tackles leading up to the draft. He's just not that type of player, get him in space and he can make you miss.

Agreed for the most part, but backs like Fournette adn Elliot would be creating positive yardage. Guys like that make something out of nothing. Stewart used to. We saw it tonight with Blount. Plays where he was dead to rights behind the line or for no gain and he'd still manage 4 or 5 yards. That used to be Stew. He just doesn't have it anymore.

That’s a damn lie, Fournette has faced more stacked boxes than any back in the nfl and he’s still productive. Difference is Fournette hits the hole like a bat out of hell, he doesn’t go down with arm tackles

Definitely agree with the CAP over Jstew.  I do think CMac can be a good between the tackles runner though.

I think he can be. Maybe not this year, but if he put on about 10 pounds in off season could be a difference. Kid has the talent, I think.......Also, I think they need to give him the ball a little more to truly see. But they need to get the Oline issues in running game fixed first.

At this point, it's pretty obvious that CMC is more of a receiver than he is a runner and that CAP should be taking most of Stew's snaps. Stew was a very good RB for us when healthy for a long time, but the guy is clearly shot.

I agree 100 % CAP should be getting some touches.....He looked strong and much improved in pre-season.....I was actually shocked at how good he looked. Thought for sure because of it he'd be in rotation. I don't know what the coaches are seeing or not seeing.

Last year he had a virtually identical YPC average to Stew. We seem to still view Stew as an elite back. He simply isn't. A guy who we didn't even view as worth of a jersey last year virtually matched Stew's production when actually given a jersey last year. It's past time for us to simply accept that Stew is past his prime just like pretty much every other 30+ year old RB in the NFL and give those opportunities to someone else.

Stew is averaging less than 3ypc on the season at this point. It's time for those carries to start going to someone else and it's time for Shula to start taking a real look in the mirror and evaluating if he's being predictable with our runs. If he's being honest with himself, I truly believe that the answer he'll come up with is "YES".
