Rotoworld with some hard truths about cmc

He isn't a bust but if you're telling yourself right now that we're getting an acceptable return out of an 8th overall running back, you are delusional as f*ck. Cam can't be our leading rusher forever. Which is ironic because some of the people that are quick to call out Cam are the first to show up and defend CMC.

There's a reason you don't grade drafts after 8 games the following year.

Obviously but when you take a player top ten expectations are usually pretty high. CMC is not anything like what I was expecting. Especially after all the training camp hype.

Experts were clamoring saying he was going to go for 700 and 700 for Christ’s sake.

Yep, the draft will always be a very inexact science. If we could have a re-do knowing what we know now, Kareem Hunt is probably the #8 overall pick but had we actually taken him at #8 everyone including me would've been losing their goddamn minds.

I wonder what he could do with our blocking issues?

He's productive and he's a rookie. He's not F'n up much. You see flashes now. HE will improve I've got no doubts. The game is faster but it'll slow down for him.

Like I've said before, I wanted him AND a power back predraft. I'm still not dissapointed in the pick. You can see it coming for him.

he could be Wes Welker for us.

Evolution.

I just have the feeling he would help this team more as a WR. They could look at how they used Smitty back in the day. They found ways to get him the ball behind the line and also streaking down the sideline. He may not have Smitty strength or speed yet but his routes and hands are Smitty level NOW.

He CAN be a RB but he isn't, yet, a couple more lbs on his frame he'll be dangerous, but why?

He's an NFL wideout to me. A possession receiver, a midfield threat who may break one but as the announcer said today, nobody wants to be the team he breaks one on.

Yep, with Olsen put CMC has the best hands on the team. By far.

if he winds up being a WR, what's the problem?

I think too many people get caught up in labels, if change works, whats wrong with change?

I mean it's not like he's lighting the world on fire even as a receiver either. He's quick and has good hands, but he isn't taking the top off of defenses. That's not worth 8th overall dude.

I wish people would actually go back and watch that play and understand that despite what that announcer was saying (the same announcer who called Jameis Winston the Brett Favre of this generation) CMC wasn't going anywhere had he been thrown the ball there. David was in great position with a perfect angle.

I hear you. But I wasn’t referring to one particular play. This has been a habit that the offense has developed. Cam is looking for receivers 30+ yards down the field when there is one or even sometimes two people wide slap open 7 yards from the LOS. It’s a huge problem, especially with space playmakers like CMC, Shepard, and Samuel.
