Preface: I am a big CMC supporter. 

 

But....

 

As of now he just does not look like a value whatsoever at pick 8 in the draft. 

Example:

This is as close to a 1 on 1 drill in the running game as you will ever get. The Bucs safety is playing man on CMC, motions with him the entire pre-snap. 

CMC HAS to be able to get by his man and cut it to the outside where he has blockers. He only had to beat the safety.  If he did, it would have been the longest run so far for him, possibly a TD. 

Unfortunately, CMC has rarely (if ever) been able to get past any first contact at all. 

The 8th pick in the draft should be able to do this, without question. If the Panthers were looking for a receiving back who cannot get past anyone they already had one on the roster named Fozzy. So far, that draft pick is looking mighty suspect with such glaring weaknesses elsewhere on the roster.

I don't think that's what is meant by covering him. I interpret that as pass coverage. I've never heard it mentioned in terms of run coverage. This is a different valid issue though.

I warned everyone about drafting Mccaffrey, but nobody wanted to listen. Never draft a Stanford RB, complete system players.

 

He already lost PR duties to Clay, and I’m kind of hesitant about  him playing slot, cause a good nickel corner could lock him up

That's one thing In not worried about him being able to handle at all.

PR duties should've always been Clay. Coaching staff was forcing CMC to do something that he's not that good at, among other players they put in the same situation.

Lattimore was higher on the board than CMC, but his rumored hamstring issues last minute caused him to drop.

Patience with this kid. He needs all the pieces of this team to be used as IS. We are plainly over using him... Teams know it... so the continued hits on CMC dent his confidence.

 

Let everyone start clicking and watch.

Not really. That was true the first three weeks. Since then they treat him like a typical scat back. He is not getting any extra attention at all.

I think the main problem is people still want to call him a RB, when he clearly is a WR, and the best one on the team at that. He should be used as a WR and check down out of the backfield. He should be given some limited carries here or there, and mixed in with Samuel in that regard. They both could be very good weapons for this offense. Also, a read option or two with Cam would work if they ran it, or if teams felt Cam was a threat to run it. But he is not anymore. He is a scared QB who doesn't want to get hit anymore. And teams know that too.
