The Benji Trade is Coaches Message to Cam

The trade of Kelvin Benjamin is a means to take away Cam's security blanket.  The coaches and front office drafted a new team with a new purpose...and to this point, Cam has refused to adjust.   He would rather throw to Benji in double coverage than to throw a short slant to CMac or Shepard.  Just like the last time that Cam lost Benji...he found a way to get it to many different receivers.  There is no way the coaches could have sat Benji without Cam getting in the way.   The coaches/front office had to make this move.

depending on where in the progression those passes to Funchess were?

If those were 2nd or 3rd, can't really place the blame on Shula.

If you think our coaches or front office have this type of foresight you are grossly mistaken.  Hurney wasn't going to do poo today, until Brandon Beane called him last minute.  So we can go ahead and drop this narrative

Hurney was sitting on his hands and then Beane called with a "hey y'all, hold my beer and watch this" trade offer and Hurney actually agreed. Beane probably fell out of his fuging chair.

This could actually be even more of a problem now, since Funchess is the only large target Cam has left on the field that's not a TE.
