Steve Smith: "There are routes that those two guys (Benjamin/Funchess) can't run. So if you have the same two guys running the same routes it limits your offense and route tree."

If funch has looked better to you this year you're being extremely selective and ridiculous. I think what you mean is Funchess has looked impressive to you a couple games this year compared to his past performances but you're letting that get to your head and mesmerize you, on no planet is he better than KB nor has he looked better than KB this season.

I watch every single game and film on multiple occasions.

In no world is Kelvin Benjamin better than Funchess this season.

Hard to defend parting ways with a player who is (1) mediocre to "good" performance wise, (2) lazy, (3) has an attitude problem, and (4) makes 8.5 million. Too many strikes.

I think the correct rationale on the subject is somewhere between this and "I hope Cam throws a hissy fit and demands a trade"

i have mused that KB and Funch were very similar and I suppose the 8.5 million number is another factor.  But the timing brings in too much emotion for one message board to take.

I haven't seen that, but for the sake of not having an ego and knowing I'm not the supreme X's and O's god nor do I spend endless time analyzing tape, I'll accept that there's a possibility you know what you're talking about.

Funchess is better at separating on those deeper routes (post, corner, go) because he is simply faster than Benji.

However everything within 10 yards it’s a wash and Benji has that extra fight in him to go get the ball plus knows how to use his body sooo much better it’s not even close.

Even on those deeper routes, I’d feel much more comfortable throwing up one to Benji who has a corner attached to his hip than Funchess who has a step on a man due to Benji’s ability to use his muscle.

Funchess is a very smooth moving athlete it’s very easy to fall in love with him but Benji has that toughness that allows him to compete against anyone. Funchess is limited.

Funchess will have a tough test immediately as I assume he’ll now get Trufant this Sunday?

Funchess is only better at separating because nobody cares, he usually drops it if a hand is up near his face,...

no one tries to cover Funchess,...

benji is 100 times better, he's just lazy,.. like Peppers used to be.

makes a highlight here and there, makes people saw wow,... then goes to sleep.

But then he wakes up,... you don't catch 2500 yards in 2,5 playing seasons and 20 touchdowns because you suck.

whats Funchess done up until now? Notta

Tell the whole truth not just the part that helps your bias.

Benjamin 4.53 on his unofficial run, and there have been events where he ran sub 4.46-4.49.  He's just as fast and has contributed 100 times more than Funchess. Like Igo said in one post,  the game Benji went out we scored 3 points,... where was Fun Fun then?

i have never seen Funchess run faster,.. and he can't block ME and I'm 5 foot nothing, 100 and nothing and over 40 ha. We'll barely 100 and nothing, sometimes over 200 fat ha.

the eye test is what matters, and we all have to suck it up or not watch football, but Kelvin is the better player,... will be at 3000 yards and 25 touchdowns his 1st 3 playing years and that receiver you do pay 8.5 million for.

Jesus people,..

You dont even know what im talking about bruh. I was comparing Funch and benji to bmarsh and alshon. Your point only solidifies my claim. Read before you get defensive.

DeSean Jackson, Terrell Pryor and Alshon Jeffery all would have been cheap options at WR for Gettleman to grab. TY Hilton had a massive contract also.

Everyone remembers when asked about Funchess that Gettleman said :"I was thinking...what do we do if Kelvin goes down?" So that pretty much confirms that he got the same WR. I understand Cam tends to throw and miss high but there are WRs out there that can flat out fly and are tall.

Dave ignored problems a bit too much if you ask me but he was definitely better than Marty by a long shot.

Because it would have been reported. Definitely by the Colts if not us.

I saw reports of multiple teams contacting them about TY but never a specific team mentioned. I think everyone got scared off by their asking price so nothing went any aware. I think I saw they wanted a late 1st

Man I thought you were trying to say Like a lot of these weirdos that Funchess is some kind of burner compared to Kelvin or something.

kelvin isn't that slow, makes a lot of 40+ yard catches. Hes isn't Calvin Johnson but who is,..

alshon and Marshall on the field was a disaster just like us having them at the same time.

i agree with Hurney and Steve Smith saying we need big and fast on the field at the same time instead of just big and big, but I hated the Funchess pick and will continue to hate until he shuts me up,..

    • I've really only begun to pay attention this week being that training camp is looming, so I was personally caught off guard by the fact that Nic Scourton remains unsigned. That's not necessarily bad news, but it's not necessarily good news either. Apparently it's a thing with this year's draft class. "Of the 32 players selected in the second-round, 30 remained unsigned and the clock is ticking. "Already we've seen one second-round pick hold out from the start of training camp with that player being Los Angeles Chargers' wide receiver Tre Harris. Harris did not report with the rest of the Chargers' rookies on Saturday due to his contract situation, a issue that could impact nearly every other team in the league. "For the Panthers, defensive end Nic Scourton is the player to watch for when rookies start showing back up to the team facilities next week. "The 51st overall pick is one of the 30 second-rounders who has yet to sign their rookie contract and the reason why is due to the other two that have actually signed. "Cleveland Browns' linebacker Carson Schwesinger and Houston Texans' wide receiver Jayden Higgins each signed fully guaranteed contracts as the first and second players drafted in the second-round. Prior to this year, second-round picks never received a fully guaranteed deal, only players selected in the first-round." https://atozsports.com/nfl/carolina-panthers-news/panthers-nic-scourton-contract-second-round-pick-training-camp-hold-out-tre-harris/ So, I suppose we'll see what's what pretty soon. It's definitely something to monitor.
    • overwhelming majority of kids in travel ball aren't getting scholarships though because most teams are rec caliber (and not watched by scouts)    and parents/leagues sort of helped create this system and narrative IMO where travel ball is now oversaturated and most of it is simply expensive rec ball.  is travel beneficial for some athletes to get more exposure? Sure. The ones travel actually existed for.   I still think travel has expanded entirely too broad at this stage......where they will now have 5 teams per year in your backyard area pending they can get parents to write those checks.   Ain't no scout ever laying eyes on 90%+ of the kids in travel ball at this stage of where it has morphed into.
    • Im really curious to see how the defense is going to look once its playing with some leads.
