the guy is a baller with the ball in his hands but getting it into his hands is the problem.

 

People will catch on to sweeps and screens if our only true WR route tree "threat" is Funchess.

I think Byrd is a better catcher and route runner. Samuel is just instinctive af with the ball with his hands and one other crucial thing he had in college... downfield blockers. Give him one or two bodies to play behind and he's getting an extra 15 yards.

I got big hopes but haven't seen him much catching the ball past a 10 yard pass.

He reminds me somewhat of a Randall Cobb. Someone who I wish we grabbed years ago to be our "Vet" WR.  He is good buddies with Cam and helped him along the way in the offseasons early in his career. We don't have anyone to really show the expertise of under routes and "hiding" your self underneath the defense.

I'm 100% behind our players too. But I hope no one thinks there's going to be huge changes in our playbook with 3 days notice. Maybe a play here or there but don't be expecting big changes in our offense. And don't be name calling or disappointed or whining when there isn't.
