Saw this as well on twitter but wasn’t sure if it was just sarcasm or not. I gotta think there would be at least a few local Houston writers in the room but if so I would have reacted the same exact way. He did seem to look over at the Texans’ media relations staff member that are always present at press interviews and gave him/her a look like “what am I doing here, the room is empty”. Maybe they signaled to leave the podium  

 

I know for sure if Joe Person was working for a Houston paper he’d be sitting front row, recording, and fire off “So Tom, how’d you feel out there tonight, can you tell me a little bit about your how night went?” to break the ice.

Damn, Bleacher Report just confirmed the press room was indeed completely empty when he walked in. Brutal. There was confusion about when he would be speaking to the media and apparently the reporters went into the locker room immediately after Coach O’Brien finished with them. 

Savage all the way around.

Bill O'Brien, and yeah, the dude is going through a lot without his QB underhanding the ball to the other team.

I’m not sure that isn’t the appropriate reaction if literally no reporter is in the room. Is he expected to wait there? Seems completely fine to leave if the media isn’t present...I don’t see the controversy.

I think the room being empty might have not been known to the OP. In that light he certainly did nothing wrong. (I wouldn’t have said he did anything wrong if reporters had been there, heh.)
