I’m sure Joe is a great guy. But no one can deny that he loves to hypersensationalize a story in a heartbeat.

Tell me how you measure a man and I'll tell you how he'll behave. In an online world, page views and clicks are everything. I would imagine clicks per article would be a metric for a performance review or bonus.

But did he hyper-sensationalize it?

My vote is no.

I will say that he has done some questionable things during his tenure as a reporter. The whole concussion-gate he tried to start a few years back, that was a bit much.

I understand his job is drive traffic to his columns... but I haven't read any of his work since. That is something he has to take into account.

That, and some of his questions.... "Ron, do you think the rain was a factor for the slipping on the field?"

I've had beers with Joe a few times - he's a real good dude.

Also.... @UpstatePanther What do you expect Captain to say? Let's not turn this into a F U Joe thread because Captain said exactly what everyone expected him to say.

I know plenty of people who I’d buy several rounds for and enjoy their company but are lousy at their jobs. The two aren’t mutually exclusive. Person is a bland reporter. You mix that in with a monotone voice and seemingly aloofness, like that one time he’s on his phone walking through a panthers video, you’re gonna get people who make jokes about him. Person isn’t exceptional or even good at his job. He’s just there, seemingly going through the motions.

Nobody cares how many beers someone has had with Joe P. He's a mediocre beat reporter that has to resort to using children as pawns to sensationalize stories because he's too lazy to do his own work or actually be creative. See the Brandon Lafell child support story.

Ok but the guy I quoted said "he flat out sucks" after saying he met him at a Starbucks. If you dislike the way he does his job I don't give two shits. But he's actually a pretty solid dude, which is why I responded.

It's funny that you bring up the concussion thing because I had the opportunity to talk to several people who were in that room while it was going down. All of them applauded Joe for pressing the staff to try and get some answers. They even went on to say more people should have backed him up and not left him on an island, because in any major market those questions get asked.

Its funny to see the Huddle get pissed at the reporters for asking questions that make the FO uncomfortable and then also getting mad because they don't ask the tough questions.

You’ve been defending his average reporting by saying he’s a good dude in other threads not just this one. It’s cool, glad he isn’t a POS, we need more good people in the world.

Except I didn't defend his reporting. I just said he was a good dude and didn't flat out suck. So?

Why are you still going? We shared how we felt about him and how does his job. That’s our opinion, stop trying to take that from us.

I met the guy and He did not leave a good impression. I understand you have had beers with him and feel he is a good dude, but when I met him I didn’t walk away thinking that.

Once again the concussion gate he was trying to give legs to... left a bad taste. He may be a hero in that room, but he is a loser outside of it.
