All indications remain Panthers DC Steve Wilks will meet with the Giants first, likely tomorrow, sources say. Cardinals remain eager to get a crack at him and could follow, with the Colts, Bears and Lions all interested as well.

The Bears have since hired Chiefs OC Matt Nagy so they're out of the hunt.

I think our early exit increases the chances that Wilks leaves.  Teams tend to get antsy as coaches start coming off the board.  They can get impatient and not want to wait until teams go deeper into the playoffs.

Case in point: The Bears could have waited for Shurmur, McDaniels or Patricia but instead jumped on Matt Nagy after the Chiefs were eliminated in that disappointing loss this past Saturday.

I'm hoping he's gone. I was much less thrilled with McDermott leaving.

Honestly, I would not be devastated if he left, and I believe he is a good defensive coordinator.  I just don't like his style with our personnel. 

Hopefully, we don't see Washington end up leaving with him.

Wilks is a good coach. He should do well at the top level.

I don’t think it would be a tremendous loss when it comes to defensive performance. Not a fan of his overly agressive scheme, as it regularly left our weak secondary exposed.

That being said, he seems like a high character guy who the players love.

Well maybe the Giants will take Wilks and the Jets will fire there HC and take Shula and a Hurney.  Send all coordinators and GMs to the north!

Honestly after watching us get worse as the season progressed and how predictable Wilks was with his blitzes and coverages I won't miss him a bit. His zone defense was awful and his unwillingness for example to use Bradbury to follow their number 1 receiver like the Saints did against Funchess meant offenses could dictate to us. I think we can do better and hopefully Wilks is a better head coach then he has been defensive coordinator. I was hoping he would be better than McDermott but he clearly wasn't.

Washington and Al Holcomb could be possibilities. The team could block interviews if they're under contract (unknown).

McDermott didn't take anybody with him when he left.  Don't recall him even asking to interview anyone.
