Ron Was Extended To 2020 Because Cam Newton Is A FA in 2020

This just now hit me. This franchise is keen on keeping these 2 together when they're completely opposites. Ron has been defense is whole career, while Cam is offense. Cam isn't going to take it another level unless Ron stop meddling with the offense philosophy and approach. Just hire the best OC out, who's had the most recent success and get out the way.

Honestly, most coaching contracts are relatively short-term. That decade long $100M contract the Raiders gave Jon Gruden is anything but the norm.

And it's not really a decade long.

How do you know he’s meddling? Did he meddle with Chud?

I was always under the impression the Panthers offense has been bland and outdated because Ron didn’t really care as he loves him some defense and possibly the reason for the garbage offense was trusting Shula to take care of it. It’s also another reason I feel if Ron was paired with an innovative OC who didn’t need babysitting and he could focus on the D, we’d have a much more complete coaching staff.

Go listen to Ron press conference. He made it clear he want a offensive coordinator that believes in ball control(thats his belief) and how the zone read and all that will remain a part of the offense. When you hire an OC, let him run his offense. Ron changed after Chud left. Remember his aggressive offense comments when he first started, turned into ball control protect the lead offense after Chud left.

Now it starts on Aints board about Cam.

"Damn Newton has now become a coach killer. I bet he threw them under the bus and they got axed for it,it wouldn't surprise me. Carolina will never win a Super Bowl with Newton I wouldn't doubt that he is a big problem. The defensive coordinator is a really big loss for them it's huge. The team will have a new owner coaches are leaving the Panthers will be in a huge transition mode."

    • No one way to do it, it does appear that with the bigger draft picks of the last 5 years…..majority haven’t steered clear of young QBs on the roster being their hopeful guy. Especially past their rookie seasons but even some the biggest ones have had it early.   As far as Andy Dalton, the two young guys he has “mentored”…..have had very rough NFL starts.  Which really ask the why the heck is Dalton here.   He doesn’t really check any box.  No young potential.  Can’t step in and win.  And his mentor track record with Fields and now Bryce is bad
    • I had thought the Panthers might let him play out his contract this year and hope he stays healthy. If not draft a left tackle and move Ekwonu to right tackle.
    • Frankly, if most teams in the NFL lose their starting QB for a significant amount of time, they're screwed. The fantasy is that one has a future Tony Romo or a Nick Foles that can carry a stacked team. The reality is that you might get roughly 3~5 games out of your backup before it all falls apart. Remember all of Peyton Manning's backups? Utterly terrible. Speaking of backup QB's, Raiders may need one. https://www.nfl.com/news/raiders-qb-aidan-o-connell-suffered-fractured-wrist-in-preseason-finale-expected-to-be-out-6-8-weeks
