Panthers now say Newton had a knee injury

Panthers say knee injury contributed to Newton collapsing

Florio correctly points out that when he was being examined on the field, nobody looked at his knee.

Probably would have been better to stick with the "we told him to fake an injury to buy time" story.

I mean, Ron played him with a bum shoulder for 3 games in 2016.

You think he was gonna let a little thing like a concussed brain stop him from trotting Cam back out there?

And the NFL doesn't get off the damn hook on this either.  If the NFL wants to insist that Cam WAS concussed, then they damn well need to admit their shitty referees missed yet ANOTHER shot to Cam's head without throwing a flag.  And I don't think the defender was coming in for an intentional head shot either but, according to the NFL rules, THAT DOESN'T (or shouldn't) MATTER.

Why is this even in the players and coaches hands. If they felt like he had a concussion then there should have been someone from the league to escort him off the field. You can't expect a player to take himself out of a game like that.

I don't believe he was concussed.

I also have no trouble believing that the Panthers probably went around the proper procedure in order to get him back in the game. Whether or how much trouble they get into for it. We'll see.

I do find myself wishing that we wouldn't say things to make ourselves look stupid in the process.

    • At this point the Tepper's seem to be leading you around by the nose based on how much time you spend carrying water for them so I'm not surprised you're struggling. We are the only team who saw fit to install Andy Dalton with his zero career playoff wins as a culture cornerstone and a key mentor. Even the putrid Saints wanted no parts of that. Truth hurts 🤷‍♂️
    • They have drafted two QB's since they took Hurts in the 2020 Draft. Tanner McKee(6th - 2023) and Kyle McCord(6th - 2025). In that span we have drafted Bryce Young(1st - 2023) and Matt Corral(3rd - 2022). Technically, we have invested significantly higher draft capital on QB's(albeit one less than they). It's not the investement that is the issue, it's the results. Corral was literally not a rosterable player with a THIRD ROUND PICK. We gave up a king's ransom for Bryce to basically get Davis Mills results(so far).
    • No QB from the draft or free agency was going to change this being a losing season for us. I mean we’re rebuilding, everything we’re doing is meant to be for winning tomorrow.
