New GM Candidate: Martin Mayhew

Mayhew drafted Suh, Ansah, Slay, Stafford, signed Golden Tate as a FA for a steal of a contract, drafted Larry Warford, drafted Levy (good before injuries), signed Glover Quinn as a free agent, the guy actually accumulated some talent. He started out with bare shelves from the Millen era, there was zero talent. Ultimately he needed to go, but not surprised to see him getting some second looks around the leauge.

How many black guys do you need to prove your not a racist? I guess next they going to tell us JR has black friend and a black and white TV.

Thing is these guys aren't just black. They're all also highly qualified, far more qualified than Marty Hurney.

If they wind up hiring Hurney over three better qualified African American GM candidates, there's potentially a s--tstorm of epic proportions waiting over the horizon.

No there isn't. Not even a possibility.

The Pollard Alliance reportedly already called bulls--t on using the interim tag to keep from interviewing other candidates, and we've got an outgoing owner who has a racial incident on his record.

This will not look good at all.

You're reaching. It isn't against the Rooney Rule to make a terrible hire. From a Rooney Rule standpoint the Panthers are more than covering their bases here. Sure, there may be some minor PR flack caught, but it'll be minor. There will be much bigger stories. The sell of the Panthers franchise, free agency kicking into gear, hype of the pre-draft process, who is going to win the Kirk Cousins sweepstakes, etc. One benefit of being a relatively small market team is that NFL fans in general don't really care about our GM quasi-search.

And in typical Panthers fashion, will probably wind up making the team look more racist.

Ugh.

If some stupid revolutionary communist is stupid enough to get ***TRIGGERED*** over a team that is like 80% black racist just because the owner said some slur then that is their fault.

    • One game at a time We need to beat the (insert next team) next week We need to focus on the (insert next team) If we play our brand of Football we will be ok We are playing to win next week, then the division, then we'll see, once you get to the playoffs, everyone is 0-0 We'll be looking to put our guys in a position to win
    • If Raiden were a Cane, he'd get the double minor.
    • I agree it does seem the league is against Charlotte but the picks they've made have been questionable. They've had sure fire picks fall to them and they keep trying to build a army of forwards who cannot shoot for some reason lol. You got to make a move in offseason and or trade for scoring. I get the best aren't coming to Charlotte but theres been opportunities at solid players with experience, that would've come just to be the man here in Charlotte. They got to stop over thinking this in the draft too. Take the best scorers available! I'm hearing we need more size on the wing, a big man, great defender, etc. but nothing about scoring or a shot creator. This team has been terrible at shooting the rock especially from the perimeter and its a iso 3 ball league, no one plays defense or really runs an offense. This franchise does not do well with developing players either. I've seen too many guys take huge leaps once they were away from Charlotte which is concerning. And even more concering that they're taking developmental guys when they have no business doing so. So, All that to say take a proven scorer, high basketball IQ guy, a unpolished player will not survive here.
