Steve Smith's Take

I know it’s not popular, but I want Kirk with the first pick. I just feel like he’s gna be a beast. I also really like EQ, I’ve watched a lot of his games and was really impressed with him (not in the first of course, maybe one of our thirds if he’s there)

The issue on the press coverage concerns me.  Will he be able to get separation against NFL caliber CBs?

If he can't = Bust.

I agree, it’s a chance and it sucks bc we can’t afford to mess up that pick with the needs we have. Wr is a huge need but so is S, RB and DE imo. It will be interesting to see how it plays out.

Of course SS loves Anthony Miller they are cut from the same cloth.  Kirk is great but i think Miller can be had later, kinda reminds me of when Santana Moss was a first round pick and we stole Steve in the 3rd

The thought of having a guy like Smith with that Chip on his shoulder really intrigues me.

Exactly.  First round busts can set a team back many years.   That player you thought was going to be around a long time ends up out of the NFL in a couple years.

Unfortunately the Combines is not going to show if he can get separation against top caliber DBs.

I think Safety, OT, DE and C are probably higher on the list than RB and WR.

That's what I'm thinking...Miller looks more physical than Kirk but I wont complain if we got either one but I am partial to Miller...

No Ridley and he has Kirk over him that's just crazy.

Did you read the article?  He said he was looking at mid round guys.

You'll notice a few of the top guys (Calvin Ridley and Courtland Sutton) aren't listed below. That's because we already kind of know what we're getting with them. The guys spotlighted below are lesser-known, but I think they all have impact potential.

    • Bryce has been playing the best ball of his career the last three games IMO. He wasn't the reason we dropped the game in NOLA. Seattle's defense will be his toughest challenge yet this season
    • I'll be at the game Sunday and up until last year I had a perfect attendance record. Now however I have seen us lose to the Chiefs (last year) and the Bills (this year). So we can no longer rely solely on my ability to pound overpriced beers to propel us to a win.
    • I haven't been able to watch Seattle on a dedicated basis but the Seahawks are a much better team by the all accounts: eye test, record and DVOA. Defensively they are sick. Best DVOA in the league first in rushing and second in passing. Offensively their passing game has been on fire this year led by JSN I can easily see this being like the Buffalo game where things just get out of hand for us early, that being said this league really is week to week and Seattle does have the disadvantage of traveling cross country for an early game.  If and big if, the Panthers are able to effectively run the ball and limit the amount of time Seattle's offense has to generate explosive plays we have a path to winning this game.  Seattle fans won't be happy to hear this but bad Darnold is always lurking in the background. He is truly an enigma to root for bc he will have an incredible throw that only a few people can make but then will turn around and throw the most bone headed pick of all time.  I think ultimately we drop this one as ultimately it's human nature to be looking forward to that week 18 game. But man how special would it be to be leaving the stadium on Sunday with a win and a miracle dolphins upset
