Sam Bradford will have made 134 million after next year, which his 9th year.

I hope for Steve Wilks sake that Bradford has something left.

Wilks is way in over his head. I'm pretty sure he will do a McAdoo.

Wilks was in over his head as a defensive coordinator.

This. I certainly like Wilks as a person and can see why guys want to play for him, but as much as people ragged on Shula, Wilks called some bad games too. I'm honestly not unhappy he moved on.

His blitzing style worked well at the start of the season when we were facing subpar SBs, but he was leaving Worley and Coleman on an island time after time blitzing against guys like Ryan, Brees, and even Jameis the 2nd time when he wasnt scattershot and we paid for it big time.

I wonder if Rivera stepped in at some point and reigned him in towards the end of the year. I know the secondary personnel wasn't great last year, but when the secondary struggled as bad as ours did with a very good pass rush like we had, you have to blame the scheme too.

Anyway, I wish Wilks well but he has his work cut out for him in that division with 3 good QBs now and having Bradford, who truly has made the most money in NFL history as an average at best QB.

Guys will like playing for him and he won't be moronic or lose the team like McAdoo, but he will need a big bounceback season from David Johnson and Bradford to really play well to have a chance at the playoffs. Finding a long term franchise QB will be his biggest challenge.

I think he gets at least 3 years bc he is a great person and has a head coaching presence. Whether he can find a QB or install successful schemes remains to be seen.

    • I probably would have become a casual Hornets fan if Cooper ended up there, but the NBA just solidified my apathy for its product. Hornets also got shafted when Lakers got cold feet on the Mark Williams trade. NBA is corrupt and that alien-headed Silver is the kingpin.
    • Most analysts from what I've seen are projecting next year's cap as closer to $298M. We saw a $24M increase this season, $31M increase last season, and $16M prior to that. There's also the inevitable cap casualties... A'Shawn Robinson being cut saves the team $8.5M. Damien Lewis would save $9M. BB3, Jewell, PJ2 all would save $5M each. Tremble and Mike Jackson could save $4M each. It wouldn't surprise me to see the team make a few moves that end up giving them closer to $50M in cap space to start 2026. I'm less worried about next year's cap space due to the upcoming UFAs for the team: TMo, AT, Tuttle, Wonnum, Nijman, Mays, Corbett, BC, Dowdle, Rozeboom, Martin, Rhattigan, Jansen, Scott... the only FAs I'm seeing on Spotrac outside of TMo that are must keeps are ERFAs Coker + Demani (so long as TMo's knee is fine, of course). 2027 on the other hand is going to be the offseason for Bryce's bonus option with Icky being the most significant UFA. PJ2, A'Shawn, Josey, MJackson, Tremble, Dalton, DJ Johnson, Zavala, and Bartholomew are the only other current FAs then. I'm of the opinion that they are all in on next season and if it doesn't go well, it's being blown up and starting from scratch. They're currently estimated to have $130M in free cap space in 2027.
