This from @scott_fowler - who is currently on the road but called in the scoop citing a source - Panthers are expected to soon sign WR Jarius Wright to play in the slot. Most recently with the Vikings. Has experience in Norv Turner's offense.

Camp body. Seems like what we did last year when we signed Charles Johnson the WR and Tiquan Underwood a couple years ago. Guys that have playing experience, but aren't signed on as roster locks. First impression is that he doesn't make the team.

FWIW, at least he'd provide good depth as a possession guy, considering his great ability at converting third downs and being a decent route runner.

Vikings fans call him underrated.

But, I wouldn't expect him to be an immediate starter.

So we’re on the market for Viking cast offs now? Cool.

*edit*

Viking fans are actually a little upset by this. They’re saying he’s a great and reliable 3rd down receiver

Yeah, Vikings fans seem to like him:

Man, I hate seeing Wright go. He's so good in the clutch. Take care of him, Panthers fans!

He always is so quiet until "bah gawd that's Jarius Wright's music" on 3rd and 13

Man we've been the farm team for the Panthers recently.

At least Wright is a decent player this time around, felt bad after that Kalil deal.

:( I wish he was still with us. Always makes the big third down plays

This would be a really solid move. Kinda like a Cotchery light. He's very reliable and clutch. Got phased out of the Vikings offense for some reason last year but before that he was pretty productive.

    • Honestly I haven no idea what I would have even done last night, Edgecomb was the most realistic option to improve our team
    • He doesn't have the athleticism to play in the NBA. He had the worst numbers of anyone who worked out in this draft. He's legitimately the least athletic player in this draft, which is saying something.   His ceiling is Kyle Korver, with his lack of athleticism he's more likely to be out of the league in 5-6 years like Jimmer Fredette.
    • Well, he was in probably every NBA franchise's top 6 or 7. Obviously it's nice to take the swing and it work out. But when a guy refuses to work out for your team, is probably the guy refusing to play with LaMelo, has sketchy handlers, etc.? You want...to take that swing? A desperate team does, sure. Which the Hornets are. But a smart team doesn't. Which is what they will hopefully become.  Kon isn't a superstar, but his floor is Kyle Korver. Is that what you want in the 4th pick? Not really, but he's your 4th guy on a good team and what I think Charles Lee wants in a player.  Trade down would've been nice, but for who? Tre Johnson would've been my guy, but he's gone if we trade with Brooklyn. If Washington wanted Ace, I doubt it would've taken much to come get him. Trade down and get Maluach (knowing you're trading Mark) would make sense and may have been the play, but I think Kon helps the team on the court and changing a culture. Not so sure about some of the guys in the 8-12 range.
