Really? Because I remember the 2015 season when players were constantly complaining about the field. I believe it was re-sodded during the season at least 3 times. They did do a complete overhaul later, but they have struggled with the field in recent years. It certainly hasn't been voted on as being one the best.

You are absolutely right about the field being bad one year, but according to this article we are kind of loved https://www.si.com/nfl/2015/10/01/nfl-stadium-turf-grass-rankings

One of the things they did last offseason was completely re-do the drainage and such on the field to prevent issues.  Would be quite a bit of wasted time and $$$

Interesting find. It seems silly that turf would come in in an open air stadium with the investment already made to grass but what do i know.   If the new owner wants turf we get turf. If he wants grass we get grass. If he wants his face at midfield that’s what we get.  I  just want a Carolina based franchise that competes annually with excellent leadership. I’m not going to get bent out of shape over preferences and style. I  have accepted that the panthers will have a different feel under a new owner and i may not like a few changes.

The interesting thing thing here is that minority owners (who comprise 52% of ownership) are kept in the dark. I imagine that when a bidder is found JR will have to get the approval of the minority in some fashion just like the NFL but who knows. Really surprise me that the minority group could have JR in complete control of their asset sale....

what a moronic thing to say. The players consistently vote us near or at the very top of the league for best playing surface

This guy should clearly be disregarded going forward

It may be top of the league but maybe JR pays a lot for that to be the case and the other owners don't like expense that trickle down to the net line.  I don't think he said it because he is a moron.  We need more info on this matter but I hope this isn't something that changes.   It is significant that a minority owner thinks it will be an issue. Why mention it at all if its a non issue.  Makes me nervous.

Cancer.  This article is regarding the use of field turf and the cancer risk in soccer, but still relevant.  https://www.cnn.com/2017/01/27/health/artificial-turf-cancer-study-profile/index.html

Mmmm...I don't think the article really says that, "The results showed that the cancer rate among soccer players in the investigation, based on Griffin's list, was actually less than expected compared with the cancer rate among all Washington residents of similar ages."

    • Biiiiiig eyeroll on this.  First, Look at historical stats of the most recent historical great DBs.  I plucked 3, Revis, Sherman, and Norman (cuzz he was our guy).  Combined post age 30, there are TWO pro bowls between those 3 and wanna get this...ZERO seasons with 16 games started.  ALL missed time.  It is RARE that Corners survive that long in the NFL and its about time we started recognizing this fact.  Jaycee is a good bet because it hasnt been anything seriously devastating injury wise, and with his sample size he could and should be an incredible piece for the panthers through age 30. Jaire kinda flops on the other side, hes 28...so hes under 30, but he wants his payday before it comes up, hes also been injury prone lately.  Bulk of the contract will be on opposite side of 30.  Will both of these guys help us be better in 2026?  SURE!  No doubt, but the question is, will these guys help us past 2026...not sure. The investment isnt worth the risk, nor would the ROI be anywhere close to worth it.  Neither guy is moving us from a 6-8 win team to a 8-10 team, period. My point is we're in this state a 6-8 win team IMO and he projects us as  a 4-6 win team.  EVEN if we think Jaire or Ramsey will make us a 6-8 win team, it in NO WAY is worth the money or capital to move that much just to suck kinda less.
    • I assumed he was retiring but apparently he plans on playing multiple more seasons.  Florida is gonna have trouble holding onto everyone.  Happens to all teams that have that much success.
    • I hate Marchand, but if he became a free agent.....
