One More Notable Signing?

Arguably, we have met the needs at the following positions:

Cornerback:  Cockrell, Bradberry, Munnerlyn, Elder, Seymour.   Pretty solid and young.

Wide Receiver: Funchess, T. Smith, Wright, Samuel, Byrd.  No true #1, but this lineup requires the D to cover deep (Smith, jersey #11 by the way) and underneath (Wright, jersey #13) now.  Funchess, TE, and CMC will  love this.  REMEMBER: There is probably 1 true #1 WR in  the draft....

That allows us to focus on the following positions in the draft:

  • LG
  • S
  • TE
  • RB

I think we will draft these positions on day 1 and 2.

Later in the draft:

C

OT

I think Marty will use 2 of the last 4 picks trading up.

I find it interesting that last year, almost everyone on this board was screaming to cut Anderson and let Gilbert be the back up. And now Anderson is gone and Gilbert is the #2 and it is a great need. What changed?

No clue. At this point I'd rather roll with Gilbert than have DA back. DA has looked atrocious when he's had to see the field the past two seasons.

Do we have any cap left assuming the 6-7 mill for the rookies?

I would assume it's extremely tight, that could be an issue without making some cuts. Which there are some no brainer cuts on our roster right now, there's just not enough room in the depth chart to suit them up on a consistent basis.

Russell Shepard still being on our roster is absolutely baffling to me.

or amini silatolu or wr charles johnson or jarius byrd. due to the comp pick formula, we will wait until another team signs one of our own ufa 1st

That's a good point. Do we only need to have one signed? What if we sign them, does that count?

I didn't think the NFL made that formula public, but I suppose most people have figured out it's patterns.

I definitely think we add a veteran TE before the draft.

I think Lewis on a two-year deal would be awesome. Then draft a TE in the 3rd to replace Simonsen. At least this would buy us some time to sort out the TE position going forward in a world with Olsen

Give me Ayers to stabilize our edges and Navarro Bowman as our Sam to truly boost our front seven and then let’s have an all out Offensive Draft that includes a Center and Anthony Miller

Yea because what this team can afford to do is put one of their expensive linebackers on the bench.

    • Was at the game and NYCFC honestly outplayed CLT the whole way.  Khalina and Zaha carried the team.  Zaha's wife on IG making it sound like he's gone come July. They're going to have to pay him or find a big time replacement because the team looks like pretty lost without him.
    • No one's saying LaMelo has no blame we're responding to you acting like he's the reason they lost. The scapegoating and blaming the teams woes on his personality is where it's like Cam Newton all over again. It was a failure on multiple fronts and primarily Lee's. Dude said ON AIR pregame that they had to protect the paint and if that was his gameplan going in he couldn't have botched it more. As the commentators said Ball's a rhythm guy and Orlando was preventing him for getting any kind of flow going. I'm a normie watching on TV and said they needed to bait them into fouling to combat that. They didn't even try until the 2nd half when it was too late. I think it's fair to expect the star to overcome whatever but LaMelo was not the problem in that game and he's not what is holding the team back. He's the only reason they're flirting with being a great team. I kinda put the center play on Lee too. Moose is great until he's up against a big who can body him. We've always known that and that's what Kalkbrenner is for. I don't know if it would have changed much but Kalkbrenner should have had more minutes than him.  And moving forward with the center position, I just think it's the time to trade Diabate while his stock's high and that's not an indictment of his game. He's like an evolved combination of Biyombo and PJ. He's a great rim protector and the strength issue is just what you're going to have to deal with if you want that. But Kalkbrenner is perfectly capable of protecting the rim and we gotta get away from the undersized centers or it'll always be a problem for us.
    • Honestly its why that Jalen Coker grab was a big deal.  I'd been warming up to the idea of a sadiq pick and was adamantly against a receiver...but this altered my train of thought.  I mean For instance, Cade Otton signed for 3 yr 30 mil contract...thats not dramatically different than the rookie payscale for #19 (4 year 20 mil with 5th year option), however you KNOW otton is decent...no clue if Sadiq will be anything.
