Players can now be ejected by officials in New York

Interesting development, though it seems like it's not exactly what they needed.

I could see them allowing remote officials to eject players for acts that the on field refs may not have been in position to see, but it seems odd to allow them to simply increase the severity of a foul already flagged with an ejection.

Have to see how it plays out I guess.

This will make all those long ass reviews even more gut wrenching.  If they already take forever to decide if a foot was in or out you may as well go wash your car while they decide whether to make a decision like throwing a player out of the game. And you can bet the symbol on the helmet or name on the jersey will absolutely come into play in the decision.

There is no need to suspend play while those types of decisions are made.  None at all.  If it takes a play or two for officials at a remote location to look at the angles and see that a player deserves to be ejected, fine.  It's better than a player staying in.  Look no further than OBJ's hit on JNo.  SOB should have been GONE.  If this move corrects situations like that, sign me up.

The first game that comes to mind is the 09 NFC championship game when Minnesota lost to New Orleans.  Had the refs done their job and seen what Greg Williams was doing, the Saints would still be without a Super Bowl.
