It's funny someone would complain about the existence of superhero movies yet get drunk off their ass to watch a bunch of grown men pummel each other into oblivion for entertainment.

I don't think people would complain if they were good. If you're a 12 year I guess they're entertaining. Cinematically they're an insult to film. I will spare Nolan's Trilogy, Deadpool and Logan from that generalization. The rest, at the least the ones I have seen are shot with no heart, script or substance. Anything to make a buck. Its disgusting.

Well, purist based arguments will basically rage on forever.

In terms of the current state of the film industry in relation to the egregious laziness of most blockbusters and unnecessary remakes, I can't disagree with you. Like what they have done to Pacific Rim by basically turning it into Michael Bay's Transformers minus the lens flare. I tend to sometimes give Marvel a little leeway. The DC movies outside of Nolan are basically hot garbage. Admittedly I'm a film buff, and have an appreciation for cult classics and specific film references in particular. While there are clearly some terrible cookie cutter films being churned out on the regular, there are still quite a few talented people putting out great work.

First of all I care nothing about super hero movies or comics in general. I'm looking at this from from perspective as someone who went to film school.

There are plenty of studios and producers putting out great movies. Movies that invoke thought, pioneer new ideas and master ones that have already been conjured. Just not Marvel. There is nothing wrong with being entertained. I just can't stand the people that beat the Marvel drum and shout from the rooftops how great the films are.

In OPs defense he is not the problem. Just a fan of the MCU and that's okay with me. I'm just a little sassy today.

Disney is the real culprit here.

Like beauty, great is in the eye of the beholder.  I enjoy many of the blockbusters.  Thor was a very entertaining movie, so was Black Panther.  Movies don't always have to invoke thought, just fun is ok.  My favorite movie this past year was Darkest Hour, which some consider to be a great movie, however many of the so called great movies bore me to tears.  I remember many years ago hearing what a great movie LA Confidential was, but halfway thru, I remember wishing I had a book to read.  Its not that I didn't get it, I just ended up not caring.

Considering film is an art form I'll agree with you here with just one small caveat...

you're wrong and I hate you.

    • I don’t remember Mills from the USFL days just when he was in NO.  But when you saw Smitty it screamed oh yeah, this guy has something. Immediately. So, have not seen anything that dramatic with Young. All I know about him says he is solid with his character and smarts and don’t see a lot of that translating into screaming he really has something. I think the people that say he could possibly acceptably run an offense designed around him, with top flight talent in support, are probably about right. But I can’t see any Pro Bowls or lofty accomplishments in my crystal ball.
    • I thought I read they’d still be there but as a backup in case of malfunction.  So it’s not so much a goodbye as it is they’re being sidelined (I’ll see myself out)
    • Their forecheck is relentless because they are so physical and heavy.  It’s just a perfect mashup for how they play. Florida before Paul Marice played just like us. Speed but with finesse.  Paul made them but into playing heavy. They went and got players that added to that style he wants and it works.  Plus they have the best goalie in the league.  That helps more than anything. The canes have got let Koochie be their guy he will never become the star that most think he will if rod keeps sticking with vets that flame out.    1. Koochie or a Soros type player  2. Switch to zone defense  3. Get heavier.    like I said, I love Rod. Best pro coach ever in the Carolinas sports buy he is holding us back with his philosophy and style.  He is the reason.  He can change all of that with decisions.
