Film Room - Isaiah Oliver

Didn’t see this posted before though many of this guy’s breakdowns have been up here. Nobody’s really been talking about Oliver at 24 but I think he’s a very realistic candidate.

What do y’all think about him? To me it looks like he’d fit our D perfectly and would be good value right around where we pick. Oliver and Bradberry would be our best corner duo in years and would solidify our backend and D as a whole. And can you imagine Josh being released after the year and we pick him back up... Safety can be had in rounds 2 or 3 with little drop off (unless Fitzpatrick or James fall which is unlikely). I think G/C, CB, WR or DE will be the positions in play at 24.

I love this guy's breakdowns, but he's every bit as enthusiastic as Saca is about every prospect.  So while it's entertaining, I don't put TOO much stock in it.

I just thought the breakdown was interesting and made some good points and it was about a prospect we haven’t discussed a ton here. Other CBs like Jackson have been getting more attention. And I see what you’re saying but I don’t think he’s like Saca that much. Just go watch his McCaffrey video... He points out flaws in guys games a ton as well but a lot of his videos are on top 5-10 picks and are of course going to be positive. And I’m not putting a ton of stock in just this guy’s video. To me Ward is clearly the best in the class and not making it to us but Oliver is definitely up in the top few after him and is worthy of being discussed at pick 24.

Of course he’s in the discussion, problem is he probably won’t be there at 24.

He’s a late 1st rounder to early 2nd rounder. I bet he’s there. I could see Seahawks considering him or Pats at 23 but it’s more likely than not he’ll be there.

I like this kid. Think he is a little underrated when they are discussing top cornerbacks coming out this year. They are projecting he could go anywhere from 1st to end of the 2nd round.  He's 6'1 190 ran a 4.5 and his nose for the ball and how quickly he adjusts his sight and body while the ball is in the air really compares to the likes of our former player Josh Norman.   I don't believe this player will be there for us in the 2nd round.  IMO someone is going to get a heck of a football player if we goes before us at 24 or after we choose another player.

I like this kids film.

I think Oliver would be a great pick at 24 and would be our next Josh Norman. He would need time to refine his foot and hand technique but has great upside.  I think he might replace Bradberry by the end of the season. We can find a safety easier in round 3 then we could a corner. By the way Oliver is listed as the 4th or 5th best corner so he should be there at 24.

    • Great point.    I would lke to add that there is another QB on the roster who was terrible over the middle--Kenny Pickett.
    • I don't think this is the year for Carolina, unfortunately.  I think they will have to make a decision on the QB position-all we know is that Bryce has year 5, but a long term deal has not been signed--yet--and they would be smart to take a "wait and see" approach.  I have not kept up, and I see a path to upside for Bryce, but I do not think we have aggressively pursued a QB when our QB was mediocre to worse than mediocre.  yes, his numbers are improving--but he has adapted by eliminating what he does poorly and not improving on what he does poorly.  Just my take and I have no data to support this view.   Basically, we go as Bryce goes, so the approach is not to bring in a QB to have him compete until we find one, but it is to make Bryce as good as he can be--is that good enough? Season ticket holders buy the hope of winning rings, not winning 8 games. Last year, Bryce had a resurgence.  Take away TMac and Rico Dowdle.  How good was he?  I still have hope.  Not a hater of plan A, but a hater because we have no plan B.
    • Yeah man, I've been here for a very very long time. Couldn't even begin to tell you what year. Maybe 2004 or 5? I've never really been super active, just enjoy reading everyone's opinions and discussions. I'll chime in from time to time. I have had a few different accounts over the years. It's always been a fun place for me to check in on my favorite team. Hopefully we can keep the place running for a long while still. I also would like to recommend bringing back the Lovely Ladies page!
