List things the Panthers could do to improve their relevance in South Carolina

Recommended Posts

Eh, I don't think it's anymore relevant in cities in NC as you get farther away from Charlotte than South Carolina.  There's already a pretty big population increase right on the state line.  As Charlotte grows in size and the Panthers popularity rises, then it's relevancy will reach further away.

I wasn't aware that they needed help. I'm from SC, and I don't consider them them the NC Panthers. we do have a lot of Steeler, Cowboy, Packers and Redskin fan down here, but doesn't every area in the USA have that fan base. Lots of Panther support in SC. I've been a fan since the start, went to 3 of the first games in Clemson, I pull for the CAROLINA Panthers!:shades:

Keep training camp in South Carolina.

More player caravans/events throughout the state.

One thing i really like about ATL is the many billboards around the city. I see a few in NCs major cities, but very few in SC’s (Greenville, Spartanburg, Columbia, Charleston, Florence). There needs to be more billboards and advertisements. There needs to be more of that in NC as well.

A new owner currently living in SC will help

I live in Charleston and although they will never be as popular as the Gamecocks or Tigers, there is a pretty big Panthers fan base here. It’s honestly not that much different than NC / Charlotte.

For reference I split time between the two cities.

Also Charlotte is the perfect city geologically for the two states. It’s closer for me to drive from Columbia or Charleston to Charlotte than anywhere on the coast of North Carolina.

Charlotte is closer to Atlanta than Charleston for example. I know more Falcon fans in NC than SC. Should we move the team further away from Atlanta?

I couldn’t disagree with this statement more

I’m just talking about Charleston since that’s where I live currently. We have a pretty large Panthers fan base, much larger than any other NFL team.

I have lived in Charleston / Charlotte a combined 25 years. I will say winning definitely helps. Since Cam was drafted the fan base in the Charleston area has at least doubled.

    • It’ll be interesting to see how the board falls I completely agree with you on TE for us The safety from Oregon would be the cherry on top for Evero’s defense/scheme.  If a OL’men is there that you love it would be very hard to pass up. This fan base seems to just see Walker as a stop gap but I wouldn’t be so sure. He’s the same age as Ekwonu. He’s had a much more impressive career arc/progression than Icky has. He’s the better pass protector. As far as I see it if Walker has a good year I’d bring him back over Icky. Ekwonu isn’t some elite franchise LT. Playing next to Lewis is going to be great for Walker much like it has been for Icky. We definitely need to get younger/cheaper on the OL though so for this reason alone it’s still top of my list come round 1 if board falls this way  Could also use another corner with Mike Jackson’s deal up after this season and needing a nickel but Corey Thornton looked really good in that role in the limited time we got to see him. However he’s coming off an achillies injury and you never know with those.  Then as mentioned above we do still have a need at WR. As far as “weapons” go it’s kind of a 2 man show with Tmac and Coker and neither is a burner. If Jordan Tyson is there at 19 and we can have a young WR group locked up for cheap that’s a huge advantage cap wise  And don’t forget linebacker. That clip in Devin’s Lloyd blueprint they used from Evero saying they need more intelligence there could’ve been left out for Wallace’s sake but it’s true. Wallace is lost in coverage. Pair a smart linebacker with Lloyd and that’s a group with Wallace and Cherelus being depth
    • The fact that this is even a discussion is a testament of the level of front office badassery that's going on.
    • Not always. LT was for the Giants. So was Ray Lewis. Von Miller was moreso than Manning his final year in the season that shall not be named. It's usually the QB, but not always.
