What's up with Moton

Recommended Posts

I read earlier where LG seems to be starting with Silatolu. Yet I thought we drafted Moton with the idea we would be losing Norwell, which we did.

So the question is?  Is he not as good as we thought he was and is going to have to beat Silatolu out.

Or is he going to compete for LT.  From what I have read Matt Kalil was the LT.

So what is it?

First, ya got to stop deciding why we draft X players that don't come in and immediately start. This is how fans make knee jerk reactions when things don't go the way they think it should.

Second, nothing is wrong with Moton. He is a smart, good player, and can play both tackle positions.

He'll compete for the LG spot, but if they can get themselves a more natural guard, and keep Moton at tackle, I think it serves the team better moving forward.

Third, and this is the most difficult for us fans.........

Patience.

I was fine with us drafting him and not starting.  He WAS drafted for depth and an insurance policy if we lost Norwell.

I agree he is smart but most I have read barely mentions him.

Moton is a good player and glad we have him.   It was a question not a statement.

You guys would rather post 15,000 mock drafts and discuss nothing else.   I thought Moton would be an interesting topic especially since I believe he could play LT.

First of all it wasn't a fake opinion.

Second, why would Silatolu be ahead of him?

Third, I hadn't heard RR saying that or I wouldn't have asked the question

Forth don't be a prick.

I think Amini is only ahead because he was the backup to Norwell last season...just a depth chart technicality.

Rivera did say Moton would have a chance to start at that spot.  It will be an open competition once TC begins.

What makes you think this, other than huddle opinion?

Seriously.

His rookie season they really only had him focusing on both tackle positions.

Yes, he was depth at guard also, because he IS capable of playing guard. His value it at tackle.

Now if he beats out the competition at guard, more power to him, but it also would make our depth messed up, because he'd still be the first to backup any tackle spot, which means we'd be changing two spots on the line due to injury, which is far from ideal.

At the time he was drafted, we weren't sure that Williams was the answer at Right Tackle.  Moton has never played Left Tackle, by the way, so the thought that he was viewed as a LT of the future is Huddle-fueled fantasy (go find me anything other than the Trai Turner quote that suggests anyone on the team thinks he's LT material).

Rivera is paid to win games.  If he thinks Amini is better suited for our LG replacement right now, that's probably because Amini actually IS better suited for our LG replacement.  Once Training Camp begins, it's likely that all our backups will get to compete for starting roles, including Moton.  Reading into what Rivera is saying now and thinking it means that we roll into September with our current depth chart is just silly.

Be patient.  Relax.

    • Yes message boards will always include that sort of stuff… However, this place has been a cess pool since the team took Bryce Young over CJ Stroud. It becomes a problem when it is accepted and promoted, which it has been here (even by at least one mod). Many posters sole purpose on this board is to try to dunk on others for having different opinions. We just had one write a novella on how talking about Bryce Young’s game winning drives “needs to stop”…after a win. They don’t want real conversation. It “needs to stop”. There are many posters here who literally only show up after losses to dead thread and try to dunk on others about the QB (MRenshaw is an easy example). I really don’t see much of that happening the other way around. There’s too many people that would rather the team be bad so they can feel justified for constant doom and gloom and negative opinions. It’s been pointed out by many over the past couple years. This just isn’t a place to have football discussions anymore because of the constant hyperbole. If you don’t subscribe to “Bryce Young is the worst QB ever who can’t throw the ball further than 5 yards and is the reason why we lose any game we lose and doesn’t help in any game we win”, then you are labeled a Bryce Young Stan.
    • if you believe he is watching every NFL game.....every week.....go right ahead.  I get it, he said something you like.  But that's like believing the talking heads on the ESPN shows are watching all the games.  You think Stephen A is watching the Panthers every Sunday too?  If Stephen A needs to go on First Take he certainly can pretend like he has watched every snap any player on the roster has taken lol.   No one is that isn't a Panther fan has been watching the 9-25 career go down every Sunday.  Or even a lot of Sunday's.  You know who knows more about Bryce Young than Long? The collective huddle.  What they are reviewing is stat sheets, highlights and in summaries.  It's an old formula lol.
