Paramount has picked up a sci-fi action comedy pitch from Mortal Media, the banner of the NBA's Blake Griffin and the NFL's Ryan Kalil. ..... Plot details are being kept under wraps, but the project is shaping up to be the first original feature being developed by the shingle. Mortal is developing a reboot of Disney's The Rocketeer (1991) that will be headlined by a black female character and a White Men Can't Jump remake from Black-ish creator Kenya Barris at Fox.

White Men Can’t Jump is getting back into the game.

Kenya Barris, the creator of ABC’s acclaimed comedy Black-ish, is teaming with Blake Griffin of the NBA's Los Angeles Clippers and Ryan Kalil of the NFL's Carolina Panthers to develop a remake of the 1992 sports comedy for 20th Century Fox. ..... Griffin and Kalil are producing via their Mortal Media banner, along with their partner Noah Weinstein. ..... Griffin and Kalil’s Mortal Media is a relatively new venture but is busy building an active slate with high-profile titles. Among other projects the company is developing is a remake of The Rocketeercentered around a lead that will be black and female. The company also has an NBC comedy in development.

The Rocketeer is ready to blast off once again. ..... The project, in the early development stages, is considered a sequel-reboot and, in a modern-day twist, will be headlined by a black female character. ..... Brigham Taylor, who produced The Jungle Book with Jon Favreau, is producing along with Blake Griffin of the NBA's Los Angeles Clippers and Ryan Kalil of the NFL's Carolina Panthers. Griffin and Kalil are partners in a new venture called Mortal Media and approached Taylor with the idea for the reboot.

Ryan's production company, Mortal Media, continues to pick up steam, working with some pretty big names in Hollywood. I wish him well with the venture .......... next year. Concentrate on Panthers football this year, Ryan!!

I'm sure he'll be 100% focused on football. Being a producer isn't that much work. A lot of it is approving financing and high-level, joint decision-making. It's one of the reasons Harvey Weinstein had so much time to rape so many women...

We should have made the smart business move and sped up the process for his ass.

couldve saved quite a few million just by cutting him alone.

But then again we did nothing to upgrade our oline in the offseason and you saw what happened to the line last season when Ryan went was out..yikes.

I get where you in particular are coming from, but come on, do you really think Ryan Kalil is doing any of the heavy lifting? Do you think that half of the 'producers' in the movie industry today are doing what you've had to do since you're basically your own production company?

    • You don’t even need 1b because Tepper is the only one foolish enough to wheel that deal.    Player wise? Jake’s elbow. JR and Pep getting sideways, no Carruth, Cam’s shoulder, Luke’s concussions, it would be a long list of stuff. You can take it down to certain plays in games. Fox chasing 2 point conversions in the SB would be on my list. RMJr slipping at the end of that same game was not helpful.
    • Ultimately this just amounts to heavy revisionist history. I mean you aren't talking to someone that just popped out the womb a week ago. I was here all throughout the predraft process. The overwhelming majority of the fanbase felt like this was a fine situation and the best situation for a rookie QB to go to compared to Houston for example. The hype for Young and our "rockstar" staff was off the charts. No one could dare speak cautious skepticism of his abilities or they would be neg repped into oblivion. Only after he had one of statistical worst rookie seasons of the last 25 years did we get this narrative now that his rookie season actually shouldn't count. Complete malarkey if you ask me.
    • On the field? Since I guess it qualifies as multiple instances it might not count, but have the damn refs throw some flags on illegal hits to Cam's head in SB50. If that doesn't count, 1A. Cotchery caught it 1B. Kasey keeps that kickoff inbounds. Off the field? 1A. Team is sold to anyone but Tepper 1B. We have the patience not to mortgage the franchise on that Bryce trade. Stroudwpuldve been the better pick but he's not worth it either.
