Rosinski brings out the tinfoil hat

Gotta assume "Marty" is referring to Marty Hurney.

Oliver Luck has directly denied that Andrew staying in school had anything to do with the Panthers, but even if that's true it doesn't negate the possibility that Archie Manning might have said something to him.

Yep. Timeline is off.

So then the question becomes whether Rosinski actually got this story from Hurney or just made it up.

Looked back a little further.  Turns out there were two pie chart stories.

Richardson's "uncomfortable" press conference occurred on January 4th, 2011.  During that infamous presser, he pulled out a pie chart which was supposed to show that the NFL wasn't making as much money as was claimed.  This occurred three days before Luck's announcement on January 7th.  The incident where Richardson asked Drew Brees and Peyton Manning whether they knew how to read a pie chart occurred a month later on February 5th during an NFL/NFLPA negotiating session.

Now that said, Rosinski's story pretty clearly seems to be referencing the second incident, because why would Brees or Manning have cared about the first? It didn't involve either of them.

Is it possible Rozinski is just confusing the story (or that Hurney was, depending on who the ultimate source actually is)?  Perhaps what Archie Manning actually said was "good thing your kid stayed in school" or something of that sort.

Or perhaps nothing at all.  Who can say?

Regardless, without some clarification/revision, the story doesn't sound especially credible at this point.

    • It's definitely a historical issue at QB but to be perfectly blunt, we also don't do a good job of really developing almost any position if you look at the last decade or so. I tend to be on the side of that being far less a development issue than an evaluation deficiency.  I think we are in the situation at QB2/3 recently due to the overall roster being absolutely abhorrent and the QB classes being quite thin. It is harder to justify another Matt Corral(or several) when you can potentially get a real two deep contributor at other positions.  But, it was a lot of hard work to get to the point where are roster is so incredibly bad that luxury picks literally are not in our vocabulary.  This is the reaping what you sow portion of our history.
    • That is what I meant about our front office. They are like someone filling out a March Madness bracket based on preference of uniform colors and mascots. There's no rhyme of reason to some of these fugg'n mind numbing decisions they make.  They go all in on these flimsy-@ss prospects and are gun shy when it comes to more solid prospects.  It's literally maddening and the reason I stopped being so emotionally involved in this team. Heck the only reason I'm active on the board today is one, it's my day off and two, it's cut down time.
