Matt Moore starting is highly unlikely....

I don't know what you guys see but Moore hasn't shown me anything.

I don't think it's that Moore has showed us something.. it's more that, Delhomme has showed us, he doesn't have it anymore.

Fox and Hurney have to save face by continuing to start Delhomme because they just gave the guy a multi-million dollar contract this past off-season. They already look foolish for the trade.. they will look even more foolish benching him.

They are going to have to make some sort of big trade to get into the First Round and draft one of the stud QB's coming out.

Packer was saying Steve Smith, perhaps. I say one of our 1st round Running Backs, and take our chances with Goodsen as #2 next season.(assuming D-Will or Stewart would bring 1st round offers?)

Running Backs last what, 5yrs generally? A stud young QB can last 15yrs at THE most important position and our Team spends 2 First Round Draft Picks in recent yrs on Running Backs, not to mention Otah and ignoring the QB problem. Even after Jake had the Elbow problem.

No Excuse for that, whoever is at fault, Fox or Hurney should be fired if I was Richardson. All this talen wasted, they are ruining Steve Smith's career. Jerry Rice consistently had a competent QB to get him the ball, imagine what Smith's career numbers would be with a competent QB.

Moore can't do any worse than Jake has, handing the ball off and throwing INT's and incompletions and underthrowing or overthrowing or throwing behind your receivers isn't hard.

Skinny Fox has to be hoping that the old Jake under Fat Fox comes back soon. Perhaps a week on the sidelines would do him some good though.

Thanks for this earth-shattering revelation Mr Scot.

Look, they (Hurney, Fox) gave a guy with one of the worst quarterback performances in playoff history a long-term extension with $20MM guaranteed.

Marty and Johnny have this year for the team to perform. If they fail, they're gone, and they know it. They made a big bet on Jake, given that, there are two possibilities:

1. Jake starts 16 games, the team recovers and goes to the playoffs, and they keep their jobs, or:

2. Jake starts 16 games, the team fails miserably at 5-11 or 6-10. Marty and John pack their bags.

It's about self-interest. It's business. They are the only two possibilities. It's not about right and wrong.

Earth shattering? Nah. More a response to what a lot of folks are saying. I myself have advocated it, but it's pretty clearly not about to happen (barring injury).

The last line is pretty much what I've been saying here and elsewhere.

if our team philosophy on offense going forward is to pound the hell out of the ball and limit jake's mistakes, then i don't see the problem with moore. jake is tied with a rookie with 10 int's and i don't even remember how many fumbles and sacks he has. i know the front office has their heads in a noose and ready to roll, so they have to stick to their guns with jake. but if jake is not confident (regardless of what he says), your stud wr pissed, and what could be a dominating running game, would it really hurt to put in moore? at this point, i'd rather a young guy that has shown some flashes throwing 3-4 picks a game than a soon-to-be 35 year old vet that should know better doing it.

Moore stands tall in the pocket. He shows no fear. That used to be Jake. Lately he's just looking uneasy. Not fiery. Afraid. The only 1st team time Moore has gotten this year was against Philly when the Oline already proved they were useless. Oline is better now, Moore will look much better if he gets playing time.

The last drive at tampa showed Fox, nor Davidson have confidence in Jake to throw the ball when the game is on the line. that itself is what distinguishes a starter from the bench. Other than giving Jake his ultimate chance, I don't see what the hold up is.

Here is the thing, we will never know until we put him in. I agree completely that unless Jake continues to bomb games, he wont be playing until we are statistically impossible to get to the playoffs. Then we will get a look at Moore. I personally like Moore and think he isn't given enough credit.

I think we should have played him instead of signing Testaverte a couple years ago. We weren't going to the playoffs by any chance and we really had an missed opportunity to see what he's got and more importantley giving him experience. I think only more playing time will truly tell what he is capable of. It's a fact that most of the best Qbs in the NFL were huge surprises coming from later round picks, or 2.3.4th strings, or other team's back ups.

Moore has not had enough time on the field for anyone to judge him as an effective player. When a player is that young it's not really about the completed passes, the interceptions or even ball placement really, it's about having a strong pose and getting comfortable with being in the pocket, then comes the latter. Seems to me every time I see him he looks more comfortable throwing the ball, whether he completes the pass or not.

When we signed Testeverde off the couch, Moore had been on the team less than 2 months, didn't know the system, playbook and had no experience playing with the team except for a few plays against New Orleans. He had no experience with the starters. When Carr got hurt we signed Vinny in October Vinny won in Arizona and was doing great against Indy until he got hurt.

Moore came in when Vinny couldn't stay healthy and Carr was awful. Moore was the only guy we had.

Since 2007 he has actually looked worse which has been a huge disappointment to the team and the fans who saw him at Jake's heir apparent.

^^^ exactly! give him some serious burn with the 1st team in practice all week, in real games and let him get comfortable and i think most will be pleasantly surprised. i'm not saying it will happen in one half of play. the kid will take some lumps, but that has to be expected. again, if we're letting jake's old ass make the same mistakes that should've already been worked out at his level of play, i can't see why you don't let the kid do it.

    • MHS, You are missing Claudin Cherelus is a LB that's in the mix for the 4th spot. He's been here for 2 years and had a couple injuries. I mean he was a wavier claim and been here for evero system, just had bad luck when given a chance. Jon Rhat is the current leader mainly cause of he is the ST ace. But Id say, Cherelus has the same % to make the roster.  CB has the recent wavier claim of MJ Devonshire a 2024 7th rounder. He's got the good-great combine numbers but he's small size. Still he's in the mix for backup duties, in fact all the non-UDFA are wavier claims.  ______________________________________________________________   Dam shame about Clowney. I view this as a bad move. I feel clowny is well worth the 7.7, even as a backup. He played hard the whole year without help. I just feel he would have helped more than either DJ Johnson or Barno.  My only cope is he's 32 and at any point his miro-knee could force him to drop off a cliff performance-wise. I wanted to keep him around at least until the trade deadline and if no chance at playoff, flip him for a anything. NFL is a meat grinder, no love for locals....
    • Might as well. We need to get these rookies on the field and see if they can play ASAP.
    • This hate this part of football and then you have to get down to the 53 Man Roster 🙁
