Panthers right tackle Daryl Williams was in a lot of pain, screaming as he was bowled over by a defender. Quarterback Cam Newton walked about 40 yards away and watched in silence as trainers worked to get Williams stable. Williams is entering the last year of his contract so this injury has many layers of impact. Taylor Moton, who backed up Williams last year, was battling for the left guard spot. He would be a candidate to replace Williams.

On the bright side, when KB went down in camp and we thought we were screwed we went to the SB.

On the not so bright side, we've never had back to back winning seasons and injuries have often played a big role in that.

On the downright bleak side, if Moton has to shift to RT that virtually guarantees that Amini the Turnstile is LG.

Just now, stbugs said:

We were 1 deep, now we are 0 deep. I’m glad we have Moton. I think he’ll be fine, but we need Larsen or Mahon to step up and blow Amini out. It shouldn’t be hard. Problem is that we then have Larsen as our only good backup at C/G. I don’t even consider Amini good depth based on last year. When he went in, he was awful.

Hopefully Williams' injury is a sprain and not a complete tear but I am ok with a Kalil-Mahon-Kalil-Turner-Moton front 5.

Unlike Shula, who wouldn't adapt, I think Norv will include more quick-hitting plays to account for the poor oline.
