I think hurney reworked the deal and took the out out of it

First, none of that posted has anything to do with the guaranteed 25M we have paid him. All that is if he is on the roster next year which ain’t happening. There was never an “out”. We gave him 25M guaranteed and we have to still account for 14.7M after this year. All Hurney did was spread 10M over 4 years instead of eating it all THIS year. As it was plainly written in the original contract. By Gettleman(or JR) or whoever we are blaming this week.

Reading the tea leaves, the Matt Kalil contract is one we can ditch after this season.  We will.  This IR move is for the roster spot.  he is depth at best for the rest of the season.  I will be very surprised if a  Kalil is on the 2019 roster.

If you are wondering about my credibility, I predicted that Doss had a chance to make the roster in July AND that Allen would be on the PS.

(I will not reference my miscalculations at this time)

A football player needs the guarantee with the injury uncertainty caused by such a physical sport amongst physical freaks... but this guaranteed portion is getting insane.

Cut down on total contract worth, while also guaranteeing a reasonable amount, but do not sell your franchise for one player who comprises less than 2% of the roster.

    • It’ll be interesting to see how the board falls I completely agree with you on TE for us The safety from Oregon would be the cherry on top for Evero’s defense/scheme.  If a OL’men is there that you love it would be very hard to pass up. This fan base seems to just see Walker as a stop gap but I wouldn’t be so sure. He’s the same age as Ekwonu. He’s had a much more impressive career arc/progression than Icky has. He’s the better pass protector. As far as I see it if Walker has a good year I’d bring him back over Icky. Ekwonu isn’t some elite franchise LT. Playing next to Lewis is going to be great for Walker much like it has been for Icky. We definitely need to get younger/cheaper on the OL though so for this reason alone it’s still top of my list come round 1 if board falls this way  Could also use another corner with Mike Jackson’s deal up after this season and needing a nickel but Corey Thornton looked really good in that role in the limited time we got to see him. However he’s coming off an achillies injury and you never know with those.  Then as mentioned above we do still have a need at WR. As far as “weapons” go it’s kind of a 2 man show with Tmac and Coker and neither is a burner. If Jordan Tyson is there at 19 and we can have a young WR group locked up for cheap that’s a huge advantage cap wise  And don’t forget linebacker. That clip in Devin’s Lloyd blueprint they used from Evero saying they need more intelligence there could’ve been left out for Wallace’s sake but it’s true. Wallace is lost in coverage. Pair a smart linebacker with Lloyd and that’s a group with Wallace and Cherelus being depth
    • The fact that this is even a discussion is a testament of the level of front office badassery that's going on.
    • Not always. LT was for the Giants. So was Ray Lewis. Von Miller was moreso than Manning his final year in the season that shall not be named. It's usually the QB, but not always.
