If we cut him are we stuck with his cap $$?

I am not sure of the details, but I recall there being an escape clause after 2 years.  They guaranteed this year this summer (I think) but next year, most of the $$ is not guaranteed.  There are several capologists on here better at interpreting this mess than me, however, so I hope they chime in.

Not that he’s the savior or anything, but the #Panthers did bring in Sharpe for a pre-draft visit last year. Kick the tires for OL depth?

What pisses me off is how we here about this right after that shitty pathetic  pre season showing from him when it was said he was healthy as he ever been in camp.

I still think there is something more to all this than a knee injury. Especially for a team that is desperate for OT help to rule him out for half a season, at least. Makes me think they really don’t want him on the field anymore and risk a major injury that would guarantee him 7M more next year.

    • It’ll be interesting to see how the board falls I completely agree with you on TE for us The safety from Oregon would be the cherry on top for Evero’s defense/scheme.  If a OL’men is there that you love it would be very hard to pass up. This fan base seems to just see Walker as a stop gap but I wouldn’t be so sure. He’s the same age as Ekwonu. He’s had a much more impressive career arc/progression than Icky has. He’s the better pass protector. As far as I see it if Walker has a good year I’d bring him back over Icky. Ekwonu isn’t some elite franchise LT. Playing next to Lewis is going to be great for Walker much like it has been for Icky. We definitely need to get younger/cheaper on the OL though so for this reason alone it’s still top of my list come round 1 if board falls this way  Could also use another corner with Mike Jackson’s deal up after this season and needing a nickel but Corey Thornton looked really good in that role in the limited time we got to see him. However he’s coming off an achillies injury and you never know with those.  Then as mentioned above we do still have a need at WR. As far as “weapons” go it’s kind of a 2 man show with Tmac and Coker and neither is a burner. If Jordan Tyson is there at 19 and we can have a young WR group locked up for cheap that’s a huge advantage cap wise  And don’t forget linebacker. That clip in Devin’s Lloyd blueprint they used from Evero saying they need more intelligence there could’ve been left out for Wallace’s sake but it’s true. Wallace is lost in coverage. Pair a smart linebacker with Lloyd and that’s a group with Wallace and Cherelus being depth
    • The fact that this is even a discussion is a testament of the level of front office badassery that's going on.
    • Not always. LT was for the Giants. So was Ray Lewis. Von Miller was moreso than Manning his final year in the season that shall not be named. It's usually the QB, but not always.
