Oof.

Shaq, kk, Star, daryl Williams

and potential solid picks that are trending up like Samuel and Moton. Honestly it looks like dg might’ve fixed the tackle spots with the drafting of Williams and Moton. They’re trending up.

Look around the league you’re gonna see busts all over teams drafted players. I don’t get why people come in here and do this and overlook the good players we’ve got. This happens to every single team across the league. Sometimes you get lucky like Seattle’s or New Orleans one year of drafting but that is extremely rare.

Hate to say it. But you can remove Star. For a first rounder we got a serviceable above average starter who bolted the first chance he got after never becoming the playmaking force in the middle that we expected to be drafting.

Then add KB to the mix.

I was on board with most of his picks. I'm not trying to derail. Simply trying to say that things don't always turn out the way you expect. We definitely learned that with Hurney the first go around, and we saw it with DG as well.

Real mastermind at work behind those picks.

All while signing Matt Kalil to a horrendous contract we'll have a hard time getting out from under for one of the worst tackles in the league, and releasing an all-pro corner because his agent hurt someone's feelings.

Good times.

It just occurred to me that players signed after week one are better for us CAP wise than if we sign before the season.

Or something like that.

For vets (not sure if it applies to younger players) if they are on the roster week one their salary is guaranteed for the year.

If signed after week one, the team is only on the hook for weekly game checks, not the entire year's salary.

You think that's bad though, I saw something in Twitter about Elway's recent drafts. Talk about bad...

There was another tweet with a table of all the failures from his round 1-3 picks in the past 5 years, but I can't find it.

I've become increasingly convinced that Elway went all out for one good year, and probably got somewhat lucky too, but isn't turning out to be a very good GM for the long haul.

Brock Osweiler and Paxton Lynch don't exactly say a lot for him. And if Elway should know any position, it's quarterback.

Related Note: I still can't believe we went into that Super Bowl without changing a single frigging thing about our game plan.

Indeed that is horrific. But at the absolute bare minimum they at least have a Lombardi trophy within the last 5 years to fall back on. I so wish we could say the same.

Normally I'd agree with you, but go back and look at that draft. Getting even serviceable out of the first fifteen is a big win.
