Generator question

Thinking about getting a smallish generator. Does this seem like a decent one? Not trying to run my whole panel, just a few things if power goes out.

TBQH I'm not sure I'd trust a Walmart brand for a generator. It doesn't even look like it has a base line Briggs engine. The Amazon reviews for this brand aren't that great either.

3,600 Watts should be enough for what it sounds like you need. I'd look at other retailers and brands first, however. You may pay a little more, but it'll be worth the headache if you ever really really need the genny.

I've got a 6,000 Watt Briggs and Stratton that my wife got from Tractor Supply 5+ years ago (probably closer to 10.) New, I want to say it was around $900. It has saved us several times, though. We've lost power for 4 days during an ice storm. We've lost power during hurricanes, etc. The only issue I've had with mine is the carburetor needed replacing, but that will happen to any small engine if you don't drain the gas out regularly/clean the lines when it isn't in use. Other than that, it usually starts after the second or so pull.

If you can't find another cheaper brand with excellent reviews (even Harbor Freight is hit and miss it seems, I checked) I'd look for a used Honda on Craigslist. Honda genny's are pretty much top of the line. Sometimes people look to dump their old ones after getting a new one, and you can get a deal.

And depending on what all you hope to power, you may be able to get by with an inverter and a good deep cycle battery.  4500 watts also wont power a whole lot for long period of tim e and generators use a lot of gasoline and are annoying as hell to listen to for hours on end.  I ran a 5500 watt Coleman for 9 days after Fran.  It sucked big time and we still had no ac,lost all our food in the deep freeze and most of what was in the fridge.

From what I hear people talk about at work...you are better off paying  more and getting a good one. Talk to someone knowledgeable and make sure the one you are considering will power what you need.  Also...generators need to to be used.  Do not let one sit too long without firing it up.

    • The team wore down and shots stopped falling.  Ball, Miller and Kon have to play well.  At least 2 of the 3.  2/16…0/6. That ain’t gonna cut it.     If Bridges and White are the only ones hitting from 3, it’s not gonna go well.  The 3’s make Moose and Kalk work.  No 3’s it gets too crowded for them with all the bodies crashing the boards.    (Kalk needs to add strength, something awful tho.)
    • Was at the game and NYCFC honestly outplayed CLT the whole way.  Khalina and Zaha carried the team.  Zaha's wife on IG making it sound like he's gone come July. They're going to have to pay him or find a big time replacement because the team looks like pretty lost without him.
    • No one's saying LaMelo has no blame we're responding to you acting like he's the reason they lost. The scapegoating and blaming the teams woes on his personality is where it's like Cam Newton all over again. It was a failure on multiple fronts and primarily Lee's. Dude said ON AIR pregame that they had to protect the paint and if that was his gameplan going in he couldn't have botched it more. As the commentators said Ball's a rhythm guy and Orlando was preventing him for getting any kind of flow going. I'm a normie watching on TV and said they needed to bait them into fouling to combat that. They didn't even try until the 2nd half when it was too late. I think it's fair to expect the star to overcome whatever but LaMelo was not the problem in that game and he's not what is holding the team back. He's the only reason they're flirting with being a great team. I kinda put the center play on Lee too. Moose is great until he's up against a big who can body him. We've always known that and that's what Kalkbrenner is for. I don't know if it would have changed much but Kalkbrenner should have had more minutes than him.  And moving forward with the center position, I just think it's the time to trade Diabate while his stock's high and that's not an indictment of his game. He's like an evolved combination of Biyombo and PJ. He's a great rim protector and the strength issue is just what you're going to have to deal with if you want that. But Kalkbrenner is perfectly capable of protecting the rim and we gotta get away from the undersized centers or it'll always be a problem for us.
