Gregory faces new discipline under substance abuse policy

Cowboys defensive end Randy Gregory, whose NFL career has been overshadowed by substance-abuse issues since those issues caused him to drop in the 2015 NFL draft, is once again in hot water with the league’s substance-abuse policy.

Adam Schefter of ESPN reports that Gregory relapsed and could be disciplined by the NFL as soon as this week.

There were murmurs about another issue with Gregory all summer, but the Cowboys denied any knowledge of any issue.

Gregory played in just two games in 2016 and zero games in 2017 because of substance-abuse suspensions, and another violation of the league policy would ordinarily result in another suspension. But the NFL has recently shifted gears toward steering players into treatment, rather than suspending them, over substance-abuse issues. So it’s possible that Gregory will be allowed to continue playing.

There were whispers on Twitter about this WEEKS ago.  Of course he'll get to play Week 1 against us and then probably banned for life after a 3 sack performance showing a typical "what could've been" career.

That thought crossed my mind, unfortunately.

Whether the league goes the treatment or suspension route probably depends on just how badly he screwed up with whatever he did.

    • I wouldn’t be surprised if the Pats win it all or at least get there. Maye is awesome.
    • Young quarterbacks Drake Maye, Bo Nix, and Bryce Young have led their teams to undefeated records since October.   Drake Maye has guided the New England Patriots to a 5-0 record in that period, with 2,285 passing yards and 17 touchdowns in nine games. Bo Nix has directed the Denver Broncos to a 5-0 stretch, throwing for 1,976 yards and 17 touchdowns, contributing to a 7-2 overall start. Bryce Young, in his second season, has led the Carolina Panthers to a 4-0 run since October, accumulating 1,390 yards and 11 touchdowns amid a 4-4 record.   Undefeated QBs since start of October (min. 4 starts)   Drake Maye 5-0 Bo Nix 5-0 Bryce Young 4-0   Bryce Young when asked about his mindset during game winning drives: "You don’t rise to the occasion you fall back to the level of your training."
    • 1. Cowboys-No explanation needed. 2. Rest of NFC South equally. If I had to pick I would say Falcons.    3. Eagles- Both of the games I have attended there the fans were so horrible. The fan base is so ridiculously misbehaved, I’ve never seen such immaturity. 4- Lions- I have cousins in Michigan that grew up Lions fans and they are some of the most obnoxious people I have ever met, as are all of their Lions buddies. The NFL has been lucky that Detroit has been in the cellar for its eternity.    5. Tie between Bears and Vikings. Both act like Steelers, Cowboys, Niners fans do with nostalgia and legendary seasons but neither have ever really had them. They act like they each won 5 super bowls in previous decades but never accomplished poo outside of Chicago in 85.
