House is in Winnabow, NC about 20 miles north of Southport where the storm is supposed to be sitting and spinning for 24 hours.

Evacuated to a nursing home in Whiteville, NC where there are brick walls, boards over the windows, backup generators high quality enough to keep people's machines running when power goes out, and plenty of food/water resources.

I feel safe enough for the storm but have no idea what I'll return home to find.

Home is replaceable. You and your family are not. My thoughts are with you!

i was in Wilmington during Fran & Bertha...evacuated to Greenville for a few days when storms came thru & when I went back home it was awful...no power for 10 days, trees uprooted everywhere, and it was really hot...there were areas just wiped out

the flooding down there is gonna be epic...eastern NC is gonna have historically bad water issues & recovery is gonna take a long time

Prayers for all

The storm itself is a scary thing to sit through. The aftermath is miserable. I hope everyone will at least get out of the way and return to help afterwards.

I'm in Tennessee (thank God for that at least). Most of my family is in the Havelock/Morehead City/Emerald Isle area. My Mom, brother-in-law, and the rest are hanging tight but my sister had to leave Morehead City because of the mandatory evacuation. poo sucks man. Everybody in the area of the storm be safe out there.

Just moved from Morehead City and closer to Charlotte and glad to be away from the coast. Old enough to have been through Floyd and Fran- 500 year flood was a sight to behold. This has the potential with the winds of Hugo and the flooding of those two storms...

Somewhat off topic- but based on the current track it looks likely that satellite will be out during the game Sunday. Anyone recommend a decent bar near Charlotte or Concord that carries the game on cable?  Haven't found one around the Albemarle area.

thanks!

Close friend is stationed in Beaufort. I wish you all the best. Stay safe, and thank you for your service!

Beaufort got the evac order with Parris Island on Monday. They should have plenty of time to evac. I hope they made it out, man! Thank you for your support!

hang in there...we are going to need you and your peers to help in the recovery in eastern NC as it is gonna see flooding of epic proportions

Luckily we have the capability to rapidly purify and distribute water even during these conditions. We also have the equipment to clear debris and restore infrastructure. I have no doubt the Marines/Sailors and the civilians in the surrounding areas will be able to work together to rapidly bounce back from this.

I moved from Wilmington a few years ago, but I grew up going thru some pretty bad hurricanes as a kid, I’m 30 now and have a bunch of transplant friends that moved there in my 20’s. They have never seen a hurricane in the last 10 years, like, they have all been tame, basically tropical storms. i remember the power being off for days, close to a week, and houses with tree thru them and poo tons of flooded houses on the coast as a kid . The hurricanes for the last 10 years since my friends have moved to Wilmington havent cut the power off for more than a few hours at best. This hurricane will dwarf those I went thru as a kid and will be a wholly mammoth compared the the hurricanes of the last 10 years. I feel so horrible for my naive transplant friends that have only experienced basically tropical storms for the last 10 years not having any idea whats in store for them as they prepare to stay after being lulled into a false sense of security with the other tropical storms.

I have a house on Badin lake and only thing I tell you is I watch the game with a antenna. I cut the cord 6 months ago. I know there is a few bars in Albemarle but never been in them. There is a bar called the White House that's close to where I live they usually have the game on. Not a lot go there to watch the games though. Its right down from where you go into Badin Shores resort if you know where that is. I would watch it with you but I'm staying in Winston till the storms gone.

Everyone be safe out there.

@E CaT PanTHer 2 now that’s how it’s done.

not sure what's the difference. I wished for your guys safety and told you to take all the precaution needed. I've never been through a devastating hurricane like residents in Louisiana have, so maybe coming from a Saints fan, it's a little more on a personal level, but the genuineness is the same.

you guys just let your biases in politics come in the way of everything, which speaks volumes of your character.

My guy, please don't. The alcohol won't save you from the water. My dad was an avid "stayer" before Katrina. He said never again will he stay for a major storm. I know people who sat in their hallway with a chainsaw to cut their way out if they had to. I toured Biloxi and Gulfport afterwards and saw an entire region completely whiped off the map.

Wilmington looks to be a direct hit. Leave while you can. There is literally nothing in your home worth it. Take your invaluables. Photos, heirlooms, things that can't be replaced. Take pictures of everything for insurance company and get as far away from the coast as you can. You realize they measured 83 foot waves at the NE quadrant of this thing? Go stay with family. Get a hotel. Poo, come to NO and stay with me. But get out.

Appreciate it man.  Yeah I know what you're saying and understand what the potential consequences are... but I'm not in quite as bad of an impact area as Wilmington.  I'm about 30-40 more minutes inland and the land I stay on is a bit more elevated than the surrounding areas.  Maybe the worst case scenario will unfold and this area gets really fuged up too, I hope not, but it is what it is at this point.

Haha I might take a rain check on staying over though if I'm ever in New Orleans, drunk, and need a couch to crash on.  You still holding it down over on RC.net?

I live on the Pamlico River near Washington which is about 20 miles from Greenville.  I am about 35 feet above sea level on a bluff above the river and over an hour in from the ocean.  We have been through Bertha, Fran, Bonnie, Dennis, Floyd, Isabel, Irene and other smaller storms.  I friggin hate 'em.  We have no flooding worries, but the wind gets really scary.

Plan to ride this one out again.  Equipped with a generator and plenty of supplies.

Everyone out there be wise and stay safe.

I hope this one does like Diane did back in 1984.  It was a cat 4 when it got off Wilmington.  It stalled, looped back around, lost a lot of power and came in as a much weaker cat 1.  It was coming up from the south instead of from the east.

Again, everyone please be safe.

I have been through 2 typhoons in Saipan and 3 bad sandstorms in Saudi Desert and hope to never go through those again. Here in Augusta, Georgia a thunderstorm rolled through short while ago but not counting out more storms coming through the area from the effects of that hurricane landfall. Hope all those families that are in these areas be safe out of harms way.

    • I think his stats will depend on the development of the rookies and sophomore receivers, which isn't totally under is control. The eye test is a different story. Has to consistently look the part before you decide to pay him Purdy money.
    • Interestingly I think we have kind of of gone through this as an organization. Richardson implemented an FO driven tank. Bad roster, no cash spent, coach uninterested. It may have been for different reasons but I think the results were the same. A team that wasn't going to win many if any games. We ended up with the #1 pick. Cam Newton came in and changed the franchise. It worked, but Cam himself pointed to the losing culture in the locker room needing to be changed. It probably took about 2-3 years for that to happen. Tank worked pretty damn well for us. Cam is one of one. Not another like him, everyone can't deliver on his draft status AND change a culture basically on his own.  So as an exercise here are the last 30 #1 picks. If you tanked and got to pick #1 how many of these guys do you think were worth it? Not just good players, but franchise changers. Guys who will take your culture and shift it so the tank was actually worth it. I would say maybe 9 or 10 guys would be worth a tank, pending the last 5 picks?    2025: Cam Ward (Miami (FL)) - Tennessee Titans 2024: Caleb Williams (USC) – Chicago Bears 2023: Bryce Young (Alabama) – Carolina Panthers 2022: Travon Walker (Georgia) – Jacksonville Jaguars 2021: Trevor Lawrence (Clemson) – Jacksonville Jaguars 2020: Joe Burrow (LSU) – Cincinnati Bengals 2019: Kyler Murray (Oklahoma) – Arizona Cardinals 2018: Baker Mayfield (Oklahoma) – Cleveland Browns 2017: Myles Garrett (Texas A&M) – Cleveland Browns 2016: Jared Goff (California) – Los Angeles Rams 2015: Jameis Winston (Florida State) – Tampa Bay Buccaneers 2014: Jadeveon Clowney (South Carolina) – Houston Texans 2013: Eric Fisher (Central Michigan) – Kansas City Chiefs 2012: Andrew Luck (Stanford) – Indianapolis Colts 2011: Cam Newton (Auburn) – Carolina Panthers 2010: Sam Bradford (Oklahoma) – St. Louis Rams 2009: Matthew Stafford (Georgia) – Detroit Lions 2008: Jake Long (Michigan) – Miami Dolphins 2007: JaMarcus Russell (LSU) – Oakland Raiders 2006: Mario Williams (North Carolina State) – Houston Texans 2005: Alex Smith (Utah) – San Francisco 49ers 2004: Eli Manning (Mississippi) – San Diego Chargers 2003: Carson Palmer (USC) – Cincinnati Bengals 2002: David Carr (Fresno State) – Houston Texans 2001: Michael Vick (Virginia Tech) – Atlanta Falcons 2000: Courtney Brown (Penn State) – Cleveland Browns 1999: Tim Couch (Kentucky) – Cleveland Browns 1998: Peyton Manning (Tennessee) – Indianapolis Colts 1997: Orlando Pace (Ohio State) – St. Louis Rams 1996: Keyshawn Johnson (USC) – New York Jets 1995: Ki-Jana Carter (Penn State) – Cincinnati Bengals
