Larsen: An unused asset with a fresh multi-year contract

    When you are trying to win. Keeping a 5 time All Pro is not a bad idea. At one point this year we had Moton, Van Rotten, Kalil, Turner, Williams. That line was working. If that line would have stayed together, we are not having this conversation. But because we are in panic mode, well, some fans are anywho, folks are reaching. Then blaming Hurndog for their having to reach in the first place. 

 

    No one saw all these dang injuries coming. I am sure if they had, they may have put a plan in place to alleviate the problem. But blaming them for not having a plan you like, over something out of their control, is kinda mean.

If they had brought in and carried twice the OL depth anticipating massive number of injuries the same people would be throwing a fit. Nobidy looks at the big picture .

I’m sorry but protecting rhe Center position by not playing the back-up center at guard when he is the best available guard for this game is ridiculous. You are purposefully hamstringing yourself because you hope you aren’t hamstrung at some point in the future. As the old saying goes, a bird in the hand is better than two in the bush. By withholding Larsen from playing, the Panthers are settling for two in the bush.

I said that all off season. Larsen was the starter last season. He was perfectly capable with talented guards on either side. We obliterated that dynamic, lost one of the best guards in the league, sat talent on the bench and lost an opportunity to shed cap.

I don't think Larsen should supplant Kalil just yet, Ryan is the better of the two and last year showed that. Larsen may have an edge physically but Ryan is better at making the line calls and adjustments. I'm glad we have our future starting C already in place but he's rightly an important back up for now.
