  • What exactly was the difference in the game?  One could argue it was rookie CB Jackson. A (bad?) interference call vs. Jackson, a missed tackle on Jackson, and and a TD vs. Jackson-all on the same drive.  I am not down on Jackson--he is a rookie.  I am excited about him.
  • Cam was incredible--32 of 45 for 3 TDs for 335 yards and he rushed for 42 yards.
  • Smith alone had 33 yards receiving.  He had 25 yards in penalties. How much are we paying him for 8 net yards?  I know he had a TD--how many of you were a bit surprised he caught that pass?
  • Lotta folks down on Funchess,  but if you took this game as his average, he has a 1200-yard season. He caught 7 passes on 9 targets for 77 yards.  That ain't bad, but you could argue that a #1 WR should get more targets...Julio Jones caught 5 balls for 64 yards on 9 targets, fwiw.
  • Jarius Wright caught 5 passes on 7 targets for 64 yards--he has caught 8 passes this season--half of what he caught last year in Minnesota.
  • I am starting to wish Matt Kalil were back.
  • Van Roten may not be the answer at LG after all.  Pity because RR is still looking to validate his role in selecting Amini in the second round.
  • Moton is fairly solid wherever he plays.
  • Thomas is coming along, but this offense without an elite TE is like a hand without a thumb.
  • Bradberry was solid vs. Julio.  Some of you invested a lot of time this offseason bashing him.  JB made Julio an average player.  That'll do.
  • Most of the yardage was gained when Shaq Thompson  or Mayo were playing WLB.
  • When was the last time you saw Munnerlyn make a play?  a tackle?
  • This to Munnerlyn, Smith:  At some point, you have to make a difference.  Check your check--we are paying you to produce.
  • Not sure Vernon Butler is going to get much better.
  • Cam led the team in rushing....again.  Anderson had 31 yards, on 3 carries.
  • Where is Armah in the passing game?
  • The panthers went on the road with a LT that was holding a cardboard sign a week ago, 2 reserve guards (essentially), and our all-pro TE on ice.  We lost by 7 to a team in the Super Bowl in 2016.  We should have lost this game even if we executed
  • While Atlanta averaged 7.4 yards per play, the Panthers averaged 6.8 yards per play.
  • The Panthers had 7 penalties for 49 yards and Cam was sacked twice for 17 yards.  That is 66 yards vs. Atlanta's 26 yards in the same 2 categories.

The problem with Funchess is that when you need a spark or a play to be made, you can't rely on him. That drop on 3rd & 2 lead to another Falcons scoring drive.

I agree 100% on Captain. He doesn't belong in the NFL. I cringe whenever he is sent on the blitz. He doesn't have the legs anymore, so you are left with 5"8 160 mobile blocking shed.

right about Funchess--he is not a leader---not a guy who seems to want the ball during the key moments.  He got his yards vs. prevent, for the most part.

Giving up about 170 yds. rushing didn't help. Mixon and Bernard are drooling in anticipation today.

It seems we have one game early every year where this happens.  They were running at Mayo and Thompson, fwiw--they were getting a blocker on them.

Thanks for the positivity this morning. There's lots to look forward to for Week 3 and I hope we see more of DJ and less of Torrey next week, and hope Samuel makes it back soon, but that'll probably be after the bye. Going into the bye 2-1 vs. 1-2 will make a HUGE difference.

I agree about Smith and Munnerlyn. They need to step it up or we should begin looking for a replacement.

I think if we can get back Trai, DWill and Samuel then we might have one of the best offenses in football.

Pass rush is my biggest concern. We didn't do poo against their Oline. If that becomes a trend then we are gonna have another 2011 season this year.

Finally, for the love of god, can anyone offer a real explanation for why the hell we aren't using CJ Anderson more? Why are we running McCaffery up the middle at the 5 yard line? I just don't understand that.

Not always the case. Luke missed more tackles today than I've seen since maybe the Detroit game last year. I think the only player on defense who played decently yesterday was Bradberry. Julio is going to get his, and on the plays that he was on Julio, dude was ON Julio, the throws were just perfect.

Munnerlyn is who he is.

Even when he does “make a play” he’s always the beneficiary of either coming off the edge untouched or having a ball tipped up to him.

I can’t remember a time Munnerlyn just straight up won his 1 on 1 and got a INT that way

Last off season was an absolute disaster. Gettleman paid Munnerlyn and Kalil top dollar at their positions and screwed us over cap wise.

And I’m dying to get an answer as to why Vernon Butler was getting the time on the field he was. We just paid top dollar again for another DT in Poe. This defensive line rotation is getting a bit much. I’m pretty sure I even saw them bring Addison out just before a 3rd and goal play in a obvious passing situation

I was very proud of Brandberry because I defended him all spring and summer.  He is actually ahead of where Norman was, but he is not the same player.  He is coming around.

Our S play was terrible yesterday--based on the little you can see on TV and assumptions about responsibilities.

I wonder if Luke was more injured than we knew (from week 1).

with smith on O and Capt. on D, it is almost as if we are playing 10 on 11.   I watch Munneryln when a runner is headed toward him--he either whiffs or finds someone to block him.

Mike Adams looked old and very slow yesterday.

On the play where  Jackson missed the tackle and then proceeded to run the Rb down. Mike Adams had the angle to make the tackle but just couldn’t make the play for lack of speed.

And that one drive before half Atl picked on Adams the entire drive  whomever he was on is who Ryan threw it to    He’s old time to move on

I’d rather have a rookie that’s out of position that can make up for it with talent and speed  than a old vet who’s in position but can’t make  the play  due to lack of talent & speed

We need a legitimate safety ASAP

    • To start with, you wouldn’t want to count up that value chart. You would see quickly where that is headed. But you basically did a quantity comparison, while ignoring quality.  I am looking at 2023 as the start, because it became all about Bryce.  2023 you have 4 picks plus DJ Moore for offense vs 2 (80 and 145) for defense.  2024 you got the 1st overall, the 32, the 46 and the 101 for offense vs 72, 157, 200 and 240 for defense. Leave the FA IOL out of it. Which was a crazy big  investment. But it wasn’t draft.  Anyway, that is basically 4 top 100 picks for offense and 4 picks for defense in 2024. Except they were 2 first rounders, the second rounder, and the 4th was really high at 101. Vs 72 and day three stuff. Please….  Second quoted/bolded… See you think we hate Bryce. That isn’t it at all. It is nice easy way to characterize us and discredit our talking points though.   Me, I do mostly hate watching him play. But I don’t hate the person. I hate the hell out of the stanning.  It started with the very first question I asked about his footwork, arm strength, and size. Height being the principle objection. I never even got to the durability factor. There was plenty without factoring that in.  But there was rabid opposition to even asking the question of what a couple of small fractions of a second extra closing time would do for the defenders.  What the extra time it takes to flip the hips would do vs a pass rush or on the other end after the ball is in the air. Split second more for recognition where it is going for the DBs.  The tippy toe backpedal.  That poo was a mess and it has always been mess but no Bryce fan wanted to hear it. “Go get another team to root for”. “It worked in the SEC it will be fine in the NFL you don’t know football you are just a hater”.  It got worse when the real games started. It has never stopped. It is nice that many people have left that train so there is less abuse but it hasn’t stopped.  So whatever…
    • Whatever school you attended, I don't know and I don't care, but I would suggest demanding a refund.    Something was completely missed there.
    • The draft capital since since 2023 has in no way been pretty even.  Especially when you zero in on day 1 and day 2 draft picks.  Draft capital has vastly gone toward the O over D.
