We had the slowest paced offense in 2017, currently tied for 4th slowest this season

The Colts have the fastest pace. How's that working for them? The Saints, at 4-1 and with the most points in the league, are only .44 sec and 3 positions ahead of us. I would submit that in the world of significant stats, this one is near the bottom of the barrel.

We will probably have the slowest pace by season end

It’s sad knowing Cam and this offense will never reach their full potential under this regime.

This is a faulty stat, you slow the offense to give the defense rest, the defense is currently and obviously been struggling lately. So big suprise the offense slows it’s pace of play.

NOTE.

After further review!!! this is a garbage stat. And means nothing. Panthers average .56 seconds slower per play pace than the New Orleans Saints.

stat means nothing.

So infuriating.  It'd be one thing if there were a tangible benefit and the defense were actually playing well and the rest helped them.  This defense sucks, so why not speed up the offense, keep the opposing defense on their heels, and go for the jugular?  You win football games by scoring points.  Period.  Defense is a good thing, but in the end, you've gotta score.  We are the least aggressive offense in the NFL by a very large margin.

Lol, this is exactly what's wrong with everyone complaining about this stat. You don't "win football games by scoring points.  Period." You win football games by scoring more points than your opponents. If that means limiting how much time your opponent has to score points, it means you have a better chance of winning.

Yet we are 3-1.

I didn't bother to click the link. It's pointless.

I don't want a fast paced offense, unless we have to score.

You don't control a game with a face paced offense.

Hence me using the term "defense is a good thing", which you conveniently didn't mark bold.

You're utterly delusional if you think that running the ball and playing defense in today's NFL is a winning formula.  The I-formation don't work like it used to buddy.  Defenses can stop that in their sleep - then they send they're 5 receiver sets out and massacre you.

Disagree.  You absolutely can control a game with a fast paced offense.  Especially in the league today.  You put much more pressure on the opposing offense when they know they have to score to keep up.

It's a tried and true formula that works AGAINST the Panthers very often.  If you get a lead on us, we're not coming back from it.

So many fans have no concept of basic football principles.

You beat good teams with great offenses, by keeping their offense on the sideline. How do you do that?? With time eating, long drives that score points.

The best defense, is an offense that can sustain drives, while putting points on the scoreboard. It's what you want, especially if the defense is struggling. Even if the defense was elite, you'd want to do the same thing, to maximize winning.

Don't you wish anything in this post was true?

    • You're assuming just as well.   Morgan and Canales were hired 3 days apart.  I believe it was partially due to their connections in Seattle.  i believe Tepper wanted some familiarity with his GM and HC.  It is so easy to sit back and arm-chair QB over draft picks.  You don't know what the philosophy was going into the 2024 draft.  I believe Canales and Morgan were drafting for the future.  XL and Brooks point to that philosophy. Name me one GM that is 100% on draft picks.  Just one.  You're not going to find one.    I think year one picks weren't for what can you do for me now but Potential.   XL hasn't lived up to the hype of a 1st rounder.  I think we all can agree on that. However, there still is hope he comes around.  What I believe they saw in him was his speed after the catch.  He needs to get more consistent but when he gets the ball you kind of hold your breath just a second because if he gets free, he's gone.  The Brooks pick was a signing for the future, and no one could have guessed he would re-injure the same ACL.  This makes the pick look bad but Dallas was ready to draft him later that same round.  IMO we'll have to see what happens next season before we can call this a bust. Wallace has improved each season and for a third rounder has done well.  Sanders has shown flashes and considering the pick in the 4th round it wasn't a bad pick.  His sophomore season IMO was a little bit more productive.  Smith-Wade has been a good addition and has played well.  For a 5th round pick to get as much playing time as he has.  Most picks below round 3 should take a couple of years to get up to speed.  He's been a decent player.  Crumedy, no comment We turned Barrett into Jackson.  This was an amazing move and basically got a starting CB for a 7th round pick.  Pretty shrewd if you ask me. Coker, maybe the best Free Agent signing of the 2024 draft class. So, in short, you can't say that the draft was a bust.  It isn't a home run but all but one are still on the team and outside of Brooks have made contributions to wins.  2025 draft class has been much better with almost every pick making contributions this season.  Now take Fitterer's two years and compare them to Morgan and tell me that they have the same philosophy.
    • He hasn’t led crap, he’s on loaded teams and a piece of the puzzle. And he’s he has improved drastically but it took the ultimate QB whispers in Shanahan and KOC. You put him on this Panther team and he’s back to normal Darnold
    • Slavin and Jarvis week to week. Florida cheap shots took out our two best players.  I’d start KK so he can beat the brakes off someone.
