Also, I think it is safe to say we will do nothing in the playoffs (if we even make it). Team has looked like crap on the road, outside of the miraculous Philly comeback (which they still looked like crap for 3 quarters). Having to play on the road at LA, the Saints, and either the NFC north or east winner seems like an impossible feat.

Sadly I think you are pretty correct here. Even if we do make the playoffs, we would need home field advantage to have even a chance to win our games. This team just does not play well at all when away from home.

Sadly, I think this is a lack of focus more than talent - which starts with the coach. Seems like every road game we look like we don't give a poo for the first 3 quarters and then actually start playing to the level they are capable of in the 4th Q

And Butker misses from 63...so we move on from here in same spot...

I don't put this loss squarely on Gano. I think it's equally shared by Gano and Funchess. If either of those guys perform their jobs adequately, we likely win. If both do, we likely win comfortably.

I'm done blaming the D in losses if we hold the other team under 30. At this point we know what we have on that side if the ball and it isn't good. We have to come into every game with the mentality of being prepared to win a shootout.

There's simply too much inconsistency for this to be a talent issue alone resulting in losses like this. There is plenty of untapped offensive potential. On the defense you're just going to have to take your losses wherever they may be at this point. Our talent on defense has been depleted. But if the staff in place actually has a plan to maximize the core talents that keep this team competitive we should never see losses to bad teams like this one. Ultimately I think we're misfiring out there in general because we are getting outcoached more often than not. It's not something that can't be corrected. But correcting that certainly doesn't begin with coaches throwing players under the bus at every opportunity while deflecting blame.

    • Then why are they paying QBs so much compared to other players? QB are making so much it's harder and harder to pay other players. If a guy plays like 1 of 11 then there pay should be in line with that. Not all QB should be breaking the bank just because your next or a former 1st rounder There is a reason they say try to win it all on a QB rookie deal because after that they can cripple a team on what it can do. I would rather not do that for a bottom 1/3 QB. Cam and Jake have been the only QBs worth investing long term into this team has had I would rather not lower the bar. If a guy don't got the IT factor and it shows I would rather not invest long term into them and keep looking

    • I mean, I hear what y'all are saying, but Derrick could have been positive without being negative.  He essentially accused people of not seeing Bryce's improvement because of their desire to not be wrong. He could've kept it about Bryce and the team. For example, he could've said: "Bryce has made strides, and we believe in him. This coming season, his continued improvement will turn a lot of people into believers."  That would've been supportive of his teammate and sent a message to the doubters. That being said, his tact almost summoned and left the door ajar for more skepticism. That's my take anyway. Bryce has improved from the bottom to perhaps skirting the line between the bottom third and mid-third at best...after three seasons. We've all seen it. Yay! In my mind, Bryce has still got a long way to go and a short time to get there, but my expectations are top five--at least top 10--always! Yes, I am a fan, so there's that, but I don't believe it's unreasonable to expect excellence. Hopefully the Panthers FO has the same mindset (and that doesn't even necessarily have anything to do with what we gave up to acquire him). That is the lens I'm looking through. Derrick Brown has his homer glasses on. He just needs to be more diplomatic and thoughtful with his words in my opinion, but I get it that he's a good teammate.
