XFL fires a shot across the NFL's bow

Maybe not, but remember that NFL rookie contracts are limited now.

If the XFL can throw more money at him than an NFL team can, who knows?

He can stay a couple more years at Clemson, competing for titles each year, enter the draft with expectations to go 1st overall and be on a path that eventually leads to a huge contract in the NFL.  Or he can leave early for a payday to play in a less prestigious league that has no guarantee to even stick around for more than a few years.

The XFL may pull some talent, absolutely.  Suggesting theyre gonna be able to get someone like Lawrence, or other bigtime names like that, thats a pipe dream.

It might be. But it's easy to think they'll give it a good try.

We might be surprised.

They can try, and I'm sure they will.  I just don't believe they will be successful.  Not with guys that know they are the most covetted prospects.  Money is one thing, but, these guys dont have dreams of being the best XFLer or winning XFL championships, they have NFL aspirations - and theyll get their money there too.

Yup you are a nfl kiss ass.

Well, we've established that kiddo, but, still waiting on you to dazzle us with all the reasons colleges top prospects are headed to the XFL.

And with the average XFL player making $7,500 a game, on par with the CFL, money won’t really be that helpful. They can make millions in guaranteed rookie salary just by being drafted.

The AAF has a better shot. It’s starting earlier, isn’t antagonizing anyone, doesn’t have a bad reputation, and has real NFL talent running it.

Not a threat to NFL but could effect NCAA.  If the pay is enough and quality of coaches good then they could develop into a decent minor league system where players get paid and do not have to pass Western Humanities to play.

If they were successful that way then you could see other leagues try the same tactic, forcing NCAA to change.  Not holding my breath but I would love this scenario.
