Where did I say it was a good thing to cut him? I am saying that leaving him on the team wouldn't change a thing.

Do you honestly think we'd be in the playoffs with him on the team?

CAP has gotten 19 and 18 attempts the last two years.  Have to think another coaching staff would change that but this one won’t.  This offense is REALLY CMC dependent.

Cam couldn't throw more than 20 yards downfield that's why we sucked in the red zone ... wait, QB's don't need deep passes in the Red Zone, nimrods.

That is exactly why we blew up, we sucked in the red zone.

There were several factors that led to the decline. Red zone efficiency was one of them.

We did ourselves dirty, really.

Yep. CJ is actually in a lot better position than we are. Rivera even stated that one of the reasons they were letting him go was to give him a better opportunity somewhere else. And likewise, the Rams are better off for having him.

Silly me. I always thought it was the job of our head coach and GM to make our team better.

    • He makes a good point about Wallace.  In fairness to Wallace it is hard to play your position as freely as you need to when your defensive line is getting pushed around like ragdolls.  One of the greatest attributes a defensive line has is sucking up blocks, freeing up your linebackers.  Our defensive line couldn't suck up a lollipop more or less blocks.  I think Evans, Sanders and Tremble are going to be a really nice TE group.  I can see all three getting time on the field.  If Sanders can improve as a blocker teams won't be so inclined to believe it is a pass play whenever Sanders is on the field.  Ryan Fitzgerald, I think was an awesome pick-up. Hopefully he can fill our kicker void. Luke Kandra many turn out to be our next Norwell.  Everything I have heard about him says he's a beast.  He needs some refinement, but the good news is he's got Hunt and Lewis (arguably the best guard tandem in the league) to learn from.
    • Great teams build through the draft and have several young players that start that are on rookie contracts. It's important to hit on players in rounds 4 thru 7.  These should be future starters and solid depth.  When you hit on most of your picks you free up a lot of cap space for those one- or two-year players to fill spots you are thin at. No GM is going to perfect on all their picks.  You're going to whiff every once in a while.  That was Hurney problem.  He'd nail the first pick but after that it was reach after reach and we couldn't get any depth on this team. I'm excited about Morgan as our GM and hopefully he'll be around a long time.  It will be even better if Canales can continue to grow as a head coach, both in the development of young players and play calling. I remember last season after Young came back in the lineup and started to perform well.  We saw different plays I had only seen other teams use.   If Canales's play design and play calling continue to grow. Morgan and Canales will be linked together for a long time.  It would be nice to see a Coach and GM together for a decade or two. Go Panthers
