Yall feeling sorry for a guy who will have made more money in 5 years than the entire Huddle has/will make their entire lives. He will be fine.

I feel sorry for anybody whose dreams have either ended or are endangered, be it a Cub Scout trying to win a Pinewood Derby or an NFL running back trying to have a career.

Its called sympathy... maybe you ought to take that vehicle out for a test drive every once in a while.

Comp picks require the free agent to sign a contract with a large average annual salary and get significant playing time. That was not going to happen with Anderson given that it didnt happen the prior season and how ling it took land in LA. Hurney seems to know this. Just read up on the compensatory pick process.

And that made the move of spending money to get worse better how?

I have no idea what you are asking.

I was addressing the comp pick topic being discussed.

I didnt want him released but there was never going to be a situation where after not playing he got a big contract

I wish we utilized him but that wasnt the topic of my response

My apologies. Took it completely wrong. And I agree.

Lol, trying to be more pompous while being wrong is funny. I know way more about the comp process than you obviously do.

If you read what I said and then did your own reading then you would know how it works. Yes, the picks themselves have a threshold. Based on this year’s the last 7th round pick was around $2.2m. Since his 2018 pay was $1.6m and he rattled off 3 straight 100 yard games, you could easily be wrong on his 2019 salary since he almost made what the bottom comp pick this year made.

Ignoring the threshold for a minute is where you 100% don’t understand part of the process. FA signings can cancel out compensatory picks. Star would have netted us a 3rd or 4th as $10m was that cutoff but we signed Poe and lost that. We would have had a 6th for Dickson but lost that by signing Cockrell. And just to highlight that you large salary requirement isn’t true to have an impact, if the Jets had kept the other Charles Johnson on their 53 to start the season, he would have cancelled Cockrell and we would have gotten the 6th for Dickson. So again, having as many FAs leave as possible even at very low deals allows you to sign FAs and not lose picks for Williams and Funchess.

Releasing CJ was dumb because it means that we could easily lose compensation for our FAs leaving. Crediting Hurney when he did something dumb is comical since he obviously wasn’t thinking about that. Seeing as how he added garbage in Poe and nothing in Cockrell and in the process gave up a 3rd/4th and a 6th and gave Atlanta a 4th, I can’t say Hurney knew anything.

Peace out and take you own advice and maybe you’ll get smarter like me.

The crediting Hurney for something dumb was how I took it. But it wasn’t because of comp picks because I honestly don’t think they considered it. I didn’t either until now. Probably because there were so many other reason it was ridiculous, by then it was redundant.

Based on the picks we threw away for nothing, I know we didn’t. The fact that the “other” Charles Johnson almost got us a 6th trying to make the Jets roster should have made it apparent that more FAs that leave helps you even if you knew you weren’t going to try to sign them. Maybe I’m making an assumption that he even was aware of that. Annoys me to think that signing Poe not only lost us Star’s maybe 3rd round comp and gave the Falcons a 4th.

I knew about Poe when we signed him which is why I didn’t like it. I thought it was going to cost us a 3rd. But I hadn’t considered CJ. Too far down the food chain.

I would love to know what the plan was when we were giving Poe’s money to Breeland. They still needed a NT type; were we going to chance it in the draft? Still had Love. But there was a time we would be pissed about Breeland costing us picks...lol

The article speculates on microfracture surgery as an option, but that's very hit or miss. There's also talk of stem cell treatments, but overall it doesn't sound good.

Shame, too. He's a super talented player.

It reminds me of Bo Jackson's situation.  If he hadn't had been so strong, such a freak of an athlete, he wouldn't have been able to generate the force needed to injure the hip.

Gurley is such a freak that his body can't even handle what its capable of doing.  Tragic irony.
