Antonio Brown: If New Team Won't Play by My Rules...I Don't Even Have to Play

He doesn't want to be traded, he wants to be released. If traded he has to play under his old contract or hold out. If released he is able to make whatever contract he wants and not owe the Steelers any of the guaranteed money back. This is all a show to avoid being traded

six pages and only one person has brought this up. AB might be an asshole but he's not an idiot. he's trying to torpedo his trade value so the steelers will release him and let him choose his team/contract combo and it couldn't be more obvious.

There's always a team stupid enough.

Right about now, I am thinking heavily toward the Raiders.  They are limping out of Oakland and to a new home in Las Vegas, a city that saw a first-year expansion team go to the Stanley Cup Finals.  The expectations of the new fanbase are probably higher than they were two years ago when the Raiders sent them the save the date notice that they were coming.

At some point, they will need to generate excitement for their new home.  If you can't win, signing big names to show/act like you are trying will be all that is left.

Too late for Raiders, gruden is running then in the ground.

I wonder how folks can't see the obvious. Brown hasn't been a problem until this year. Suddenly he does all these things. Hard not to see it is a show to manipulate where he goes.

That's the point.  They have no idea how to win heading to a new city, so the only thing left is to start throwing some of that $73M in cap space as a diversion.

"Commitment to Excellence.....or the appearance of it, anyway."

Would love his skill set on this team as a superb route runner and vet showing the young guys how to prepare - I don't think anyone would argue those points. He gets open often and quickly, and he's one of the hardest workers in the NFL.

Personally don't have any problems with how he's handled the situation in Pittsburgh, and of course he's a diva. So are/were alot of really good WRs. There are issues in that locker room that people want to gloss over but shouldn't. Young guys are more likely to accept whats going on there, but older guys aren't - especially one as accomplished as AB.

My biggest concern is I don't think the Panthers pass the ball enough to keep him happy in Carolina. AB is looking for 15+ targets a game. Anything less and you'll be dealing with the unhappy AB, which none of us really want. Panthers have always been a run first offense. If that is changing going forward, then I'm all in - if the money/cap works of course.

And as mentioned, Gruden.

There's always that guy who looks at the malcontent and thinks, "maybe nobody else can handle him, but I can!"

Pittsburgh ran as much as we did.

2018- Pittsburgh - 369 rushing attempts

2018- Panthers - 385 rushing attempts.

7th and 8th fewest runs in the league.

Not sure we are a primary run team anymore.

According Pro Football Reference the play break-downs (assuming I am reading it right) are as follows:

Panthers >> 416 running plays --- 563 passing plays (57.5%)

Steelers >> 345 running plays --- 689 passing plays (66.6%)

Interesting to not that Ben threw 675 passes to 471 for Cam (obviously there was a reason why).

I think your numbers are the right ones.  So did we run because that is who we are? Did we run because Cam's arm got worse with more reps in a game? Or because we didn't have a dynamic number 1 who demanded the ball and was very productive?  I think it was number 2 but I can't see how Brown wouldn't get his opportunities especially when he was so good this year.

Good questions...

...for comparison, 2015 numbers:

Panthers >> 526 running plays --- 501 passing plays (48.8%)

Steelers >> 388 running plays --- 590 passing plays (60.3%)

Nothing ever seemed off about AB to me in interviews I've seen before, but I just watched a piece Jeff Darlington did with him, and he definitely seemed weird...

I'm not just saying this lightly, but he looked like he was on drugs in the recent ESPN interview.  Plus, his new look doesnt scream someone who is mentally stable.
