2019 Challenge

Mr. Scot

Recommended Posts

Put this out there in another thread, but so far haven't gotten any takers so I'll repeat it here...

Same as I did last season, I'm willing to attach my name to the statement that the 2019 season belongs completely to Marty Hurney.

Good or bad, Super Bowl or #1 Pick, 19-0 or 0-16, Marty Hurney gets full credit - or full blame - for how this season goes on the personnel front.

Yes, there are plenty of good players left over by Dave Gettleman. That doesn't matter now any more than it mattered when Hurney left players behind in 2012. It's the full roster that wins or loses, not individuals, and that roster is being built by Marty, Ron and the staff, no one else.

I'm a Marty Hurney critic, but I also have integrity and the courage of my convictions. That's why I'm willing to say now that if the Panthers go to the Super Bowl, Marty deserves the credit.

I've asked a couple of Hurney fans to agree that of the season goes bad, that's on Marty too. They backed down. Still wanting to find a way to blame Gettleman and if things go bad I guess. Stupid, and cowardly to be honest, but hey...

So here's the challenge to anybody that wants to take it.

If you believe in "Marty 2.0", say so. If you don't, say so. This isn't a prediction of whether this season will be good or not. It's an agreement that regardless of what happens, no passing of the buck will be accepted.

Good or bad, this is Marty's year.

Accept or decline?

Decline. Please goddamn stop all the Hurney vs. Gettleman nonsense. One of those motherfugers doesn't work here and I am tired of hearing about him.

Can we just please move the fug on with what we do have? I will do the same once Hurney 2.0 inevitably gets fired too.

Plenty of good players left over by Gettleman?! WTF are you talking about?! There are only like 4 or 5 of his players still on the team.

Funny how I keep hearing that all of Gettleman's success was due to players left over by Hurney

So are you saying yes or no?

That's actually what this is about.

Somebody asked me prior to last season to commit to this same idea (their expectation was that we'd have a Super Bowl year). I said yes, not because I knew how to season was going to go but because of ejected lie, that's how it works.

I'm saying the same thing this year, and I challenge others to do so as well.

Say yes now and you don't get to rewrite your opinions at the end of the year to fit what ended up happening. you don't get the credit get them in for success or blame and for failure. It's all on Marty.

Good or Bad The whole team, including Hurney, would be to blame.  But to say its totally on him is just wrong.

But it's okay to blame Gettleman for his bad years, right?

Where's all this enthusiasm I'm seeing in other threads?

You can't say that you are moving on if you goddamn keep engaging in 15,000 goddamn debates at every little Gettleman slight. Continuing to argue and debate people over and over and over and over and over about the same damn thing is not productive even in the slightest. It's fuging annoying. It isn't just you, the rest of the pro-Gettleman zealots and the pro-Hurney crowd are just as annoying. The remaining 95% of this board get pretty fuging tired of it. The thread hijacks, the NEW threads, etc, etc. fug. Just STOP it.

People are always going to have some cheap shots towards Gettleman the same way they did Hurney when he got canned for boning up our fuging roster. Stop getting baited into quibbling because someone sarcastically takes "Gettlemagic" shots. I hope Gettleman is a fuging absolute failure(and he is proving to be that for sure) because he is the GM for another fuging NFL team. fug the Giants.

Stop inventing these goddamn narratives for what is pro-Gettleman and pro-Hurney. We are all goddamn Panthers fans, so we need to be hoping Hurney 2.0 isn't the same fuging failure that Hurney 1.0 is or we are going to be in the same BS position that we have been for the history of the fuging franchise. Save the fuging Hurney attack dogs for when we fire his ass too. poo, then about 90% of the board will be right there with you. Just goddamn stop being the Dave Gettleman Defender in Chief. He damn sure isn't worth it. Neither of these two are the fuging next coming of Bill Belicheck or Ozzie Newsome.

    • lol, that second part is quite literally one of the dumbest things ever. Having or not having guaranteed contracts has absolutely nothing to do with how much these billionaires have to pay.  Because there is a hard cap and a minimum cap spend requirement, and teams either use their cap or roll it over to use it all the next year, so the owners have to pay the same amount of money in the end no matter what. Having fully guaranteed contracts in the NFL would only hurt salary cap management, and thus would end up screwing over the team and its fan base when teams kiss on signings as they take up cap room that is needed to improve the roster. Look at the Browns with Watson, they gave him the fully guaranteed deal and all it’s doing is sucking up massive cap space now.  If they hadn’t done that, the owner would still be paying the same amount of money each year as that cap space would still be used elsewhere. If you want to argue for fully guaranteed contracts because the players deserve it, that’s an entirely different argument and a fair one to discuss.  But anyone against fully guaranteed deals isn’t doing it to argue for the billionaire owners.
    • Start posting in threads in the other forums instead of just creating threads. No one comes over here so you aren't starting conversations.  Get your ass up to 100 posts. It's not that hard. Don't create 100 posts. Contribute to conversations.
    • Ryabkin could be the steal of the draft, he was a Top 10 pick heading into last season and had a rough year.  Lots of GMs passed on him because of that and his workouts. Pick has really high upside and Svech should be able to translate Rod tearing his arse a new one for making dumb plays since Svech has had several years of it.  🤣😂
