If you're seeking integrity on an internet forum you're in for a bad time. Most of the people who post here are idiots and just parrot what other's say. It's most likely not even their actual opinion, just the flavor of the week.

Over a decade of being a Panther's fan makes me cautiously optimistic. One injury on the offensive line. One tweek of Cam's shoulder. One concussion to Luke. etc. There are a lot of "one" scenarios that have nothing to do with the GM. Unless you want to make an argument that he should have starters at positions of depth. I see what you're trying to do but I don't think you'll find any genuine satisfaction from it other than some obscure semblance of self gratification.

Granted on the first paragraph, and borne out by many of the responses here.

I tend to be cautiously optimistic not because of my time as a Panthers fan, but because of my time as a football fan. Said it elsewhere: I've seen what looked like dream offseasons turn to sh-t, and what looked like meh offseasons turn to gold. Lord knows prior to 2015 there was weeping and wailing and gnashing of teeth, yet as I recall going into 2001, people felt pretty good about our chances.

You can't get a real sense of how good you are in a vacuum. Even the worst team in the league thinks they're Super Bowl ready right up until they actually have to play somebody. most people aren't patient enough to wait that long though. You have to have a prediction right now.

And truthfully, not looking for satisfaction. That doesn't come from a football forum. Good discussion can... sometimes.

I'm pretty surprised at people getting emotional over this, honestly. I was expecting people to just sign on. It's a pretty reasonable premise.

Though to be clear, I'm not saying Marty is responsible for everything that happens (even though that does kind of come with the job description). I am saying that he's fully responsible for his part, and nobody else can be credited or blamed.

Weird that that's such a difficult thing for people to agree on. But hey, paragraph one

You can't say that you are moving on if you goddamn keep engaging in 15,000 goddamn debates at every little Gettleman slight. Continuing to argue and debate people over and over and over and over and over about the same damn thing is not productive even in the slightest. It's fuging annoying. It isn't just you, the rest of the pro-Gettleman zealots and the pro-Hurney crowd are just as annoying. The remaining 95% of this board get pretty fuging tired of it. The thread hijacks, the NEW threads, etc, etc. fug. Just STOP it.

People are always going to have some cheap shots towards Gettleman the same way they did Hurney when he got canned for boning up our fuging roster. Stop getting baited into quibbling because someone sarcastically takes "Gettlemagic" shots. I hope Gettleman is a fuging absolute failure(and he is proving to be that for sure) because he is the GM for another fuging NFL team. fug the Giants.

Stop inventing these goddamn narratives for what is pro-Gettleman and pro-Hurney. We are all goddamn Panthers fans, so we need to be hoping Hurney 2.0 isn't the same fuging failure that Hurney 1.0 is or we are going to be in the same BS position that we have been for the history of the fuging franchise. Save the fuging Hurney attack dogs for when we fire his ass too. poo, then about 90% of the board will be right there with you. Just goddamn stop being the Dave Gettleman Defender in Chief. He damn sure isn't worth it. Neither of these two are the fuging next coming of Bill Belicheck or Ozzie Newsome.

I'd add one other thing in response to this while I'm thinking of it:

Take a quick look at my post history. I've done a fair amount of Gettleman discussion (there's a lot of stupid to be responded to) but you'll also find that at any given time, I'm engaged in several different threads on various subjects.

Now turn around and take a look at the post history of some of the negative respondents in this thread.

You'll find that with several of them, Dave Gettleman is - no exaggeration - about the only thing they ever talk about. Heck, for some, it's the only reason they even log on. They quite literally have nothing else to say.

Seriously, check that out, then come back and talk to me about obsession.

So you were counting on the people on this forum to rationally sign a pledge?  They are simply here to get off verbally in between watching porn vids.

Sure, I just checked that out and here’s my conclusion:

You’re obsessed.

Everybody just accept the pledge to do "WHAT WE ALREADY DO ANYWAY".. After every season we assess blame give credit and Express our opinion on this team.. Its a football forum.. That's what we're here to do right??

This is the biggest hissy fit I've ever seen over nothing .. But basically what happens on a football forum already..lol

OMG OG Abner is on a roll today...lol

i don't want to play because i want to blame ron for everything.  and i love marty.  i know he messed us up before but  that '03 run was the most magical sports season i've ever had.  even better than the phil ford tarheels - my all time favorite team, besides the '03 panthers. and i hate gettleman.  he's just an ass.  and marty's the scotch drinking guy at the end of the bar.  he actually cares about the players, that's his downfall, and i love him for it.   this is why i can't play.  not enough ron hate.

and if anyone thinks this thread is stupid i'm already planning my apology thread for my upcoming descent into madness by about week 8 or 9 if we suck.   maybe week 4.

Scot, you know I’m more of a DG guy, and thought bringing Hurney back was retarded—and Tepper keeping him was dumb too. But I will say I have overall liked Hurney’s moves so far in his second go around. I’m not a Hurney supporter, I judge all moves individually and then judge them all added up and how I think the personnel contributes to the team’s play. However I can’t say that Hurney is 100% to blame or credit for success or failure. Ron, who technically can only be fired by Tepper, can take some blame/credit and although it’s a classic excuse, health factors in as well—obviously as it relates to our most important player in Cam. We can’t control any of this so why not just sit back and root for him and the team to succeed without constantly bashing him?

    • I tend to look at all of these guys and wonder how committed they are to doing special teams? It's a big deal when you're fighting for roster spots. And we need massive refreshes to all phases of the special teams game. And the idea that four or five of these players could see rotational use outside of special teams would be a win. This team has accumulated quite a bit of dead wood over the last five years and its time to take an axe to some of it. These new fellows have a shot to benefit from that if they can really push. That being said, wow that receivers room is crowded right now. I'm not sure if I was a vet player with more than 2 years experience other than Adam Thielen if I'd be too sure of my future here. Tet is guaranteed a spot, Coker earned his for sure and they aren't done with XL developing yet. That's only two to three spots left for the entire room. It's going to be very competitive and better for Bryce's future, too. Safety and linebacker are the opportunity spots here this season. There's room for the right guy and we may see a starter eventually from one of these UDFAs, either by merit or injury.
    • Aho and Jarvis just gripping it too tight right now. Relax, play their 200 ft game and the shots will start to find the net. Freddie has been excellent and welcome back Mista Svechnikov. Burns.....well, thank goodness for Slavin.
    • Supposedly he plans on staying in college for all 4 years.
