Highest paid players at every position

As you might imagine, a lot of them are recent contracts. There are two with ties to the Panthers.

Josh Norman, cornerback, 15 million per year

Surprised to see Norman topping the list. Would have thought someone would have gotten a higher contract than Norman by now, but apparently not.

The other...

Graham Gano, kicker, 4.3 million per year

Yep, the market basically gets reset every year. Every time a top 10 player at any given position comes up for a new deal in the prime of their career they're going to have a good shot at becoming the newest highest paid player at that position.

I know this has been rehashed more than possibly any other topic in recent years, but I never blamed Gettleman one bit for not giving Norman the long-term contract he wanted. I just don't think you can give a zone CB elite man cover money. It's just too easy to scheme around a zone CB to keep your best WR away from him. An elite man cover CB is going to follow him wherever he goes and you're not going to be able to avoid him.

Technically he’s not the highest paid - Robbie Gould was franchise tagged and is getting paid almost $5 million, but I guess they’re only considering contracts.

It’s really not as bad as it looks, with relatively little variation between the top contracts for kickers. The difference between Gano and the 10th highest paid kicker, for example, is an extra $250,000 a year.

Whos that Harrison Butker fellow??? He looks very cheap and doesn't miss either....

Exactly.  That didn’t give me any warm and fuzzies when H2.0 came in and kept 2 kickers on the final 53.  Wtf

I can honestly say that it will be too soon if we ever keep 2 kickers on the final 53 again.

I got terrible flashbacks form Lloyd being a fing "kickoff specialist" cause herniay 1.0 couldn't cut the cord on John Kasay. Then signed Olindo Mare (of all kickers) to highest deal in the league, GOD **** herniay is beyond terrible when to comes to kickers and decisions surrounding them.

Exactly. He could be 10th an there would be no discernible difference in our cap.

Butker would be nice though

Much ado about nothing on Gano given the majority of kickers make between 2-4 million a year. When you look at how many games are determined by extra points and field goals, the money we are paying pales compared to how important it is to find a reliable kicker. All of the complaining is really overblown given what a bargain all of the good kickers are compared to other positions.
