Bench: I’m going to keep Will Grier safe

I haven't understood the frustration of this pick. It makes total sense. I love cam to death, but being in insurance myself I don't see the problem with risk management. Cam hasn't been full strength in a couple seasons and it cost him significant time this year. If he's healthy great, we have our MVP back. If not, we got Grier. Who seems like he has the ability to win some games. Preseason will tell all though and that's why I watch it.

Why is quarterback the one position where so many of you don’t seem to care about depth? At any other position, if we were to suffer an injury without an adequate replacement, everyone would chew out the GM for not having good depth.

I get that we’ve been spoiled by having Superman on our team...but we have to accept the realistic possibility that Cam is mortal now. I know instant gratification is cool and all, but being prepared for the future is pretty cool too.

We’re not the Eagles, if our QB#1 goes down we should be tanking and restocking on cheap rookies that outperform their contracts. Pretty much every superbowl team is running on star players on rookie contracts.

Lol the Eagles weren’t the Eagles either until Wentz got injured and Foles came in and played his ass off out of nowhere. You could definitely argue Foles was a solid backup, but you’re kidding yourself if you think the Eagles weren’t panicking when Wentz got injured at the end of the 2017 season. The goal is to field a team that doesn’t revolve around one player...if Cam goes down, we have to have someone who we feel could step in and win us some games.

And you would consider this a good thing for the Panthers?

No I'm saying people will hype up a new player until they make a mistake and they will jump off the hype machine. Not saying he is going to stink I am saying people are fickle.

I haven't seen anyone call for Grier to start except a handful of loonies on Twitter.

Yet I've seen a ton of people going overboard with the claims that there is a mass Exodus of people wanting Grier to start.

We have a really good prospect for the backup QB spot for the first time in years. Can we just agree to that and stop fighting over something that doesn't exist because it makes you feel good about yourself?

    • You would hope so. I’m confused why the sports world seems split on Bryce when he’s obviously not working out.
    • So let’s do the reverse? Make everyone agree everything he does is a disaster? I also think the whole “gaslighting” is on the eye of the beholder. It went from he can’t avoid one single sack countered with he actually did that well Sunday (with data backing it) to a little breakdown of why he is so bad. People are going to have different opinions. I’m also not going to pretend this wasn’t happening Day one with this little QB.
    • All this great stuff he has done, how often does he do it?  I have it at three or four games out of 14 where he was very good and then you get a drive here or a series there where there are some good things. Here is the gaslight part: everyone has put him on a curve with his first year the baseline, neglecting to understand how bad he was then. Even if he comes back twice as good, where does that really leave him? 25th ranked or thereabouts.     He had so far to go, and still does, it is a Major ‘settle’ to accept his play as worthy of giving him our future.  You want to settle when the Bucs have Mayfield, and the Saints have overtaken us at QB? We will be third in the division at QB. That is good enough for y’all?
